You will be working alongside National Park Service and Olmsted Center for Landscape Preservation (OCLP) specialists in education and cultural landscape management to develop, pilot and implement an exciting new youth education and career development program. In particular, the candidate will:

• Develop a park-based youth horticulture training program that will borrow from vocational education. This means an appropriate mix of horticulture, arboriculture, and turf education classes and park field work using the learned skills.
• Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate education and stewardship outreach opportunities for students, youth, and teachers engaged with cultural landscape preservation programs offered by NPS-OCLP.
• Develop NPS-OCLP partnerships with youth education serving organizations, professional organizations, extension service, and land grant universities.
• Develop curriculum, learning experiences, and hands-on lessons that support landscape preservation and field projects for youth at national parks in Region One of the NPS.
• Identify NPS sites for this program and work with park contact to develop a work plan, schedule, and other logistics.
• Plan NPS-OCLP teacher professional development, youth employment program, field experiences for students, and classroom-based lessons.
• Develop a budget for trainers, staff, travel, tools, materials, and supplies.
• Develop an org chart with position descriptions to implement this program.
• Work with NPS and OCLP to identify and reach diverse student and teacher populations.
• Create graphic materials and templates needed for this program including re brochures, flyers, completion reports, monthly bulletins, and briefing statements.
• Identify web presence for cultural landscape youth and education programs up to date and active.
• Create an approach to recruit youth for the program.
• Develop learning experiences for youth through collaborative participation in cultural landscape preservation maintenance and field projects at national parks.
• Develop tools to measure program effectiveness for evaluation and reporting.
• Use the preceding efforts to complete a manual to be used to execute this program. This will include folder structure for easy and logical access to the materials.

Compensation amounts (pre-tax):
– $615 weekly Living Allowance
– Health Insurance

This position is not eligible for an AmeriCorps Education Award.

Note – this internship will be largely remote with intern being able to telework a good portion of the time. Intern however, must be "based" within commuting distance of either Boston or Philadelphia.
