POSITION OVERVIEW

Formulates safety and health programs, implements safety procedures and processes in cooperation with the Hayden Operations management. Evaluates safety and health performance and activities, recommends, and implements improvements. Exercises independent judgment in safety health matters and develops and applies corrective measures as needed. Investigates accidents and reports causes and recommendations for remedial actions. Participates as the Hayden Operations representative in regulatory matters and meetings under general direction from the Safety Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform worksite inspections and audits, including inspections with contractual and non-contractual safety committees
• Communicates site specific inspections with safety.
• Investigates accidents and takes corrective action to eliminate causative factors associated with accident problems.
• Represents Hayden Operations on all matters of Safety and Health interests on Federal, State Safety inspections.
• Facilitate/attend safety meetings with various departments.
• Monitors and submits report of contractors work and equipment on site to the Safety Manager.
• Inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Evaluates individual safety concerns and submits report to the Safety Manager.
• Review existing company safety standards, policies, procedures, and make needed recommendations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must be proficient with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel MS Project, and MS Outlook.
• Strong interpersonal skills in developing consensus building.
• Must have a complete understanding of the Federal / State Regulatory Process with both MSHA and OSHA.
• Must have a working understanding of the Mining and Milling process.
• Applicant must have good communications skills (oral and written).
• Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of SAP and Kronos software is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED
• Bachelor's degree from four-year college desired
• 5 years mine process experience and 3 years safety experience
