LOCATION: preferred location Jacksonville, FL or Phildelphia, PA with working from a home office in the Eastern U.S.

SUMMARY: Manages and coordinates all organization safety activities and programs to ensure a safe, healthy, accident-free work environment for all employees; develops and implements accident prevention programs. Coordinates and oversees company-wide training programs. Job will require regular travlel to customer sites within the Eastern United States.

REQUIREMENT: Minimum of 5 years work experience in the Vegetation Management Industry

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and implements and monitors safety programs to reduce frequency of accidents and injuries; assists in minimizing overall worker’s compensation costs.
  • Plan, implements, communicates, and monitors safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Audits various safety program elements of effectiveness; schedules and performs safety inspections; identifies issues and develops correction action plans.
  • Supervises, controls, and monitors fire preventions and firefighting activities.
  • Investigates all accidents and injuries; recommends and/or coordinates corrective actions.
  • Develops and implements safety training programs designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices plus specific instruction regarding hazards unique to any job assignment; provides training for new employees.
  • Maintains though knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations and web sites, maintains up-to-date knowledge of safety codes and regulations; distributes and/or posts new or revised safety standard that affect the company.
  • Encourages employees and supervisors to report all unsafe conditions immediately and schedules or coordinates corrective action as soon as possible.
  • Encourages employees and supervisors to report any injury that occurs on the job, even a slight cut or strain, immediately.
  • Maintains records for statistical measurement and conformance to standard practices of the safety industry.
  • Prepares and maintains required safety reports.
  • Maps out annual training plans for management, supervisors, foremen and field personnel
  • Design and develops training programs (outsourced or in-house)
  • Conduct organization-wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
  • Use known education principles to stay up to date on new training methods and techniques
  • Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills and Key Production Indicators
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises employees within the safety/fleet department
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
