Building Systems Technology is a low voltage building systems integrator located in Tennessee with headquarters in Knoxville and multiple branch locations in Kingsport, Chattanooga, Nashville, and Huntsville Alabama.

Here at BST, we provide the design, equipment, installation, service, and integration of low voltage communication, life safety and security systems.

BST also specializes in enterprises such as fire alarms, mass communications, intercom paging, healthcare communication, access control, security CCTV, structured cabling, and fiber optics.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist the Safety Manager to facilitate an injury and incident free workplace by evaluating, monitoring, accounting for, and assisting with all aspects of established occupational safety programs and site safety.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct periodic inspections of facilities and vehicles for safety compliance
  • Conduct job site safety inspections
  • Conduct worksite risk assessments, identifying and controlling potential hazards
  • Share workplace safety observations and recommendations with appropriate individuals based on direction given by the Safety Manager.
  • Investigate safety incidents as they arise • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules such as OSHA, IMSHA, EM-385, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work alone.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess good mechanical knowledge of the use of trade tools and equipment.
  • Must provide quality customer service.
  • Must be willing and able to work outside of the office in field locations up to 75% and travel overnight approx. 25%.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 4+ years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, required.
  • Possessing any or all of the following safety certifications is a plus: o Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®) o Associate Safety Professional® (ASP®) o Construction Health and Safety Technician® (CHST®)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work at heights above 10 feet.
  • Must be able to lift, crouch, reach, handle, push and pull.
  • Must be able to work in extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures.
  • Must be able to work while exposed to loud sounds and noise levels.
