Specialize in the collection of debt owed to ENGIE. Minimize credit risk exposure and credit losses by executing established collections procedures. Employ business communication skills and judgment to enforce compliance with contractual payment terms by contacting customers directly. Timely management of internal and external customer queries for resolution. Accurate and timely management of disconnect and reconnect processes.


This role reports to the Collections Manager and will sit in Houston, TX. This role is eligible for hybrid work-from-home and in-office work schedule.


What you’ll do:

  • Specialize in the collection of debt owed to ENGIE pertaining to all Retail Energy bill types
  • Own the Payment Plan process, ensuring timely collection of payment, execution and release of late fees, and switch holds according to Market regulations
  • Analyze, assess and provide recommendations to customers and management for payment extensions and payment plans
  • Manage accurate and timely disconnect and reconnect processes, ensuring compliance with applicable Market regulations and Utility tariffs
  • Act as lead for updating, storing and distributing Utility updates for a Market segment – rotate Market regularly to allow for coverage and increased knowledge
  • High volume phone calls to assigned delinquent customers. Responsible for coordination of DNP collection activity with Analysts
  • Responsible for collection of returned checks
  • Own Early Termination Fee reporting for the team
  • Develop and own additional monthly reports as required by Manager/business
  • Actively pursue and collect on Solar, POLR and Multi-Family Building accounts
  • Reconcile A/R on customer accounts to confirm outstanding balances that are due and be the champion of getting paid
  • Coordinate with relevant groups-sales, legal, accounting, etc. to resolve customer disputes
  • Manage, track and provide analysis on third-party submissions
  • Analyze, track and report metrics on DSO by Market
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding collections process metrics and quality control to ensure interacting processes are analyzed and manage timely and efficiently
  • Must be experienced in skip tracing
  • Maintain notes of collection activities in collection system. Ensure that problem accounts are tracked and escalated to manager
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audit purposes and to support drop decisions when PUC complaints arise
  • Acts as a team member with all ENGIE staff
  • Comply with all ENGIE policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business
  • Commercial collections experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years collection experience in retail electricity/energy markets preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in high volume corporate collections
  • Meet highest attendance requirements
  • Knowledge of Collection rules pertaining to billing and collection procedures and be able to recommend disconnects/drops of customers who are past due
  • Knowledge of market EDI transactions
  • Direct billing and accounts receivable experience is highly preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Self-motivated and initiative taking without assistance from Manager
  • Independent thinker, excellent verbal, and written communication skills
  • Analytically inclined; with strong attention to detail, and goal oriented

  • Detail-oriented and strong follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy

  • A high degree of reliability, ethics, and strong problem-solving skills
  • Productive and efficient, with a fast turn-around
  • Ability to use multiple data systems
  • Team collaborator with the ability to work well with others
  • Advanced PC skills, including MS Office Suite
  • Experience with SQL, MS Excel, Power BI, and MS Access

  • Salary Range: USD $44,455.00 - $114,010.00 annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan
