Summary:

Reporting to the ReStore Director, the ReStore Manager (RM) is responsible for supervising and managing employees, community service workers, and volunteers within the ReStore. The ReStore Manager will coordinate and manage operations of the ReStore.

This is a Full Time Exempt position requiring flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed. The RM will likely spend on average at least five days per week, Monday – Saturday (40 hour work week with 8 hours days).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise employees and volunteers; train all personnel on proper policies and procedures
  • Coordinate the flow of incoming materials to the store
  • Manage financial and cash management controls
  • Oversee pricing of all materials
  • Oversee staff and volunteer recruitment, training, and appreciation
  • Provide excellent customer service and problem-solve all problems and customer issues
  • Evaluate condition/acceptability of incoming donations
  • Supervise and provide orientation to community service workers; track, log, and file community service hours
  • Supervise and provide orientation to volunteers and volunteer groups
  • Check accuracy of all cash, check, and credit transactions, and nightly bank deposits
  • Stock all operational supplies for the ReStore
  • Open and Close the ReStore. Ensure that the ReStore’s security system is activated at the end of every day

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communications skills at all levels of the organization both internally and externally.
  • Skill in using machines, equipment, and specialized tools used while performing work (see below).
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust work pace to maximize production without loss of work quality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, volunteers, community service and other HFHWC staff.
  • Able to respond to unexpected opportunities or problems.
  • Multi-tasking of coordination, scheduling, supervision, and teaching

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:

The ReStore Manager works in coordination with the ReStore Director, and is responsible for managing the ReStore Staff and the operations within the ReStore. Formal reviews are held annually by the Director of ReStore.

GUIDELINES:

Employee will be guided by Habitat’s mission principles and Habitat Wake’s strategic plan and departmental goals.

COMPLEXITY:

Responsibilities involve a variety of interrelated tasks. Procedures vary based upon management requirements. Strong organizational skills, knowledge of data base function, and advanced knowledge of retail management.

SCOPE AND EFFECT:

Errors in work performance may result in delays in recovery of costs or even loss of revenue and may cause serious operational disruptions.

CONTACTS:

Individual has frequent contact with other HFHWC staff, clients, stakeholders, vendors, donors, City of Raleigh community service work program, customers, external private/public entities, and government agencies for the exchange of information and to solve problems and discover opportunities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be on their feet for long periods of time. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, carry and use hands to fingers and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to frequently lift products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates primarily in a retail/warehouse environment and can require operating equipment such as a forklift, power tools, hand tools, ladders, price guns, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. Occasionally works in outside conditions that can include heat, humidity, and high noise levels.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Will provide direct oversight, training, and supervision to ReStore staff, volunteers, and community service workers.

Requirements:


  • Experience in management of retail related field;
  • 2 years of related experience in private business or non-profit organizations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong passion for the organization’s mission;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team and with great energy and persistence. Experience working with diverse constituencies;
  • Proven organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and produce high quality results quickly and on time;
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Available to work weekends and evenings.
