Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) center located in North Miami, FL, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with Pediatric experience to provide care and skilled nursing services to patients (0 to 20 years of age) with disabilities and complex medical conditions, in a highly professional manner. The RN will work under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.

The chosen RN candidate must be first and foremost qualified and compassionate. Must be experienced in providing diverse care to children who desperately need it, while remaining patient, this is a demanding but very rewarding position.

Minimum requirements:

1. PPEC Experience Preferred

2. Hold a current Florida registered nurse license

3. Have experience in pediatrics

4. Fluent English

5. Hold a current BLS certification

6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides services in accordance with the plan of care.
• Provides those services requiring substantial specialized nursing skills.
• Initiates appropriate preventative and nursing procedures.
• Informs personnel of changes in the condition and needs of the patient.
• Processes orders and notifies physician of patient needs and changes in condition.
• Completes comprehensive assessments within forty-eight (48) hours.
• Completes certification/recertification orders as specified in policy.
• Implements and documents in nursing notes actions/interventions as outlined in the plan of care.
• Determines the amount and type of nursing needed for the patient.
• Initiates individualized care plans based on admission assessment and physician orders according to Center policy.
• Involves the patient/family in developing the plan of care.
• Reviews, evaluates, and updates the care plan based upon assessments.
• Prepares discharge summaries which reflect the care provided and outcomes.
• Supervises and teaches other nursing personnel.
• Provides appropriate information regarding the patient to other agencies/individuals involved in the patient’s care.
• Directs and supervises performance of LPN as specified, and reports findings as appropriate.
• Provides total patient care as needed.
• Obtains knowledge and supervised practice of new skills.
• Observes confidentiality, safeguards all patient-related information.
• Completes documentation and paperwork in a timely manner per Center policy.
• Immediately reports to DON any patient incidents/variances or complaints.
• Participates in utilization review of medical records as assigned.
• Understands and adheres to established policies/procedures.
• Adheres to Center standards and consistently interprets and accurately performs all assigned responsibilities.
• Maintains acceptable attendance status, per Center policy.
• Maintains acceptable level of tardiness, per Center policy.
• Reports all incomplete work assignments to DON.
• Appearance is always within Center standard; is clean and well-groomed.
• Maintains clean and neat work environment.
• Demonstrates sound judgement and decision making.
• Maintains current CPR certification, if required.
