Work hours: Part-time Days, 24 hours weekly, must be flexible, possible 3/8 hour shifts or 1/12 hour shift and 2/6 hour shifts

• Average between 160 to 170 deliveries per month and increasing volume
• 8-bed NICU/Neonatal ICU

Here’s What You Need

• Associate Degree from an accredited Nursing program
• BSN preferred
• One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program
• At least one year of Lactation Consultant experience preferred
• IBCLC certification required within 12 months
• BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

What You Will Do

• Function as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians.
• Serve as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.
• Coordinating the Texas Ten Step program with the Director
• Produce documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient’s plan of care.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care.
• Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.
• Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems
• Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
