Registered Dietitian – Regional Assignment

The Registered Dietitan support dietary programming for residents at multiple long-term care homes in the St. Louis metro area.

The Registered Dietitian’s primary responsibility is completing nutrition assessments for all residents and incorporating nutrition interventions into plan of care to maintain and/or restore residents’ to desired nutritional state.

Registered Dietitian Essential Functions:

  • Is responsible for the planning, organizing, developing, and directing the nutritional care of residents in accordance with current federal state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility.
  • Completes Medical Nutrition Therapy Assessment for residents.
  • Reviews each facility’s planned menus to assure balanced diet and nutritional needs are met for each resident
  • Partners with Dietary Manager and Cooks to develop core meal plan for residents to address special requests or critical needs
  • Monitors success of resident meal plans; plans amendments or accommodations as required to support residents’ individualized needs.
  • In conjunction with the Dietary Manager, monitors the cleanliness and safety of dining services.
  • Must conduct onsite reviews a minimum of twice per month for each assigned facility.
  • Participates in the facility Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance process
  • Attends mandatory in-services and participates in training programs to enhance skills
  • Maintains on-site regular attendance as scheduled
  • Performs all other tasks or duties as assigned

Registered Dietitian Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from accredited educational institution is required.
  • Must be licensed in Nutrition/Dietetics as required by the applicable state.
  • Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is preferred.
  • Must be adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally, as to communicate with employees, and residents as needed.
  • Must be able to effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner, and skillfully gather and analyze information
  • Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently
  • Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback
