Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Quality Manager will lead and promote the facility’s Quality Program by systematically identifying quality gaps and implementing robust solutions to ensure Delivered Quality to our Customers. The individual will partner with the process owners to develop and implement procedures to ensure quality and consistency of the JW product. The Quality Manager proactively identifies risks, assesses the relevant controls, and executes on the necessary actions.

  • Complying with JELD-WEN EH&S requirements, legal requirements including policies, standards, rules, and programs
  • Absolute focus on developing a Quality Program that achieves Delivery Quality to our Customers, with no on-site defects.
  • Create/improve visibility and control into quality processes across manufacturing operations and supplier networks
  • Minimize scrap, rework and returned materials
  • Build in complete product and process traceability into production process
  • Conduct regular Quality Assurance Reviews across all aspects of the program and issue formal reporting to Senior Management
  • Standardized processes for responding to adverse events across the enterprise
  • Provide training and direction to various business units across the organization to mitigate risk
  • Support the team in researching emerging trends/best practices and determine implications of proposed methodologies on meeting business unit strategy
  • Develop, implement, and maintain testing and oversight processes to support the program and reporting
  • Coordinate directly with wide range of stakeholders across the organization and external vendors to resolve issues, as required
  • Monitor adverse events in real-time
  • Data collection from across manufacturing cells/departments
  • Document management, Traceability, Statistical process control (SPC), Dashboards
  • NC/CAPA (non-conformance and corrective & preventive action)
  • Automated product quality planning, Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

Supervisory
Travel

  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be needed.

Education and Experience Required

  • Experience in the Windows and Doors industry considered an asset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar related equivalent preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a well-rounded background in the quality field.
  • Previous experience with ISO 9001 an asset.
  • Lean manufacturing experience an asset.
  • Strong Microsoft computer knowledge as well as knowledge of SPC (CPK, PPK).
  • Exceptional organizational, written, verbal communication and customer service skills will be required.
  • An understanding of KPI’s relating to quality and customer satisfaction and an ability to drive measurable improvements in all areas of quality.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining standards, methods, testing and evaluation of a data driven quality program.

Desired

  • Strong knowledge of raw materials, preferably for door and window applications.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques including, but not limited to, SQDCI, OTD, TPS, and Continuous Improvement methodologies and activities.
  • Basic knowledge of business, finance, quality control systems and standards.
  • Superb leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive manufacturing process improvement techniques throughout the production process in a skillful and deliberate manner.
  • Excellent team skills, including the ability to coach and develop work teams and provide appropriate training on Continuous Improvement methods and initiatives to subordinates.
  • Superior motivational skills to empower others, and to resolve conflict.
  • Must possess a sound understanding of management principles and concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of door and window production machines and tools.
  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities daily.
  • Knowledge of plant/OSHA health and safety standards and compliance.
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other position applicable software applications used on the plant floor and in production processes.

  • Comply with all OSHA safety standards as a minimum requirement
  • PPE:
  • Eye Protection: Required in all production areas – inside and out
  • Hearing Protection: Required at all times when machinery is operating or excessive noise is being generated
  • Footwear: Steel-toe shoes/boots are required – ANSI rating
  • All other PPE provided by employer on an “as needed” basis. Use of all PPE will comply with OSHA standards
  • Commit no unsafe acts. Stay aware of the task at hand and consider all safety issues prior to starting. Look out for co-worker safety.
