About Skyline PT

Skyline PT is a fast-growing concierge practice, located in Wyckoff, NJ seeking the best of the best. This is how we operate:

  • All sessions are 1 on 1 the entire treatment session.
  • Patients receive MVP treatment as each session may take place in a private treatment suite equipped with a treatment table, functional movement area, and video projection for reviewing form and posture with the client.
  • We are a SPECIALIZED clinic. We will assist you to achieve specialization in areas that align with the practice through mentorship, continuing education and by providing significant experience in that area (unlike many clinics that may be called ‘Sports PT’ then you end up seeing 90% medicare patients… We do see patients within our specialty).
  • We focus on wellness and total optimization of health (mind & body), outside of Physical Therapy.

Skyline PT represents an employee culture built on quality, opportunity, and fulfillment.

About the position...

  • You will be treating each patient 1 on 1 for 30-60 minutes… without distraction from other patients, colleagues or billers taking up your precious time.
  • We want to build a collaborative, idea-sharing environment… If you have a patient that stumps you or plateaus, we will work together to achieve success via group brainstorming or treatment sessions.

A typical day in the life of your new job…

You check the schedule and see that Jane Doe is next. A realtor who lives down the road in Franklin Lakes. She experiences sciatica persisting for 14 months now.

When she arrives and you sit and chat for 5 minutes, she tells you about her weekend spent down the shore with her daughter and son in law. You ask about her symptoms, review her HEP, and discuss the plan for today. You begin with treatment to reduce the sciatica, including various manual treatment techniques… Next, you begin movement re-training but she is having trouble grasping the correct form so use video projection. Next you add in some manual and verbal cueing, and she is able to demonstrate the proper proficient technique.

In between teaching moments, you’ve been having great conversations about all sorts of things. Every time you think you hear a biller, aid or other patient calling you... you remember it’s just the two of you working together to solve this problem and achieve her ultimate goal which is to play tennis and show houses painlessly again.

At the conclusion of the session, you review her customize video HEP and make a followup plan. She tells you how grateful she is for how much therapy is making a difference in her life. She leaves, you make yourself an espresso and put your feet up for a few minutes to decompress…

Before you leave for the day, you tell your supervisor about a great idea you have for a workshop that we could run addressing a trend you’ve been noticing in patients lately... they love the idea and tell you you can make a commission off the workshop.

You get in your car, it’s sunny, 75 degrees out with 0% humidity… you don’t hit any traffic on the way home.

Top 5 things we are looking for in the Physical Therapy Assistant we hire:

  • A 'co-creator'. You enjoy coming up with ideas to improve patient care, educate through social media and network in the community. Someone who sees the big picture of our vision and wants to grow WITH the business.
  • You're passionate about your craft and want to grow your skills in an environment that supports you.
  • You are self-motivated and willing to work harder to earn more money.
  • People would describe you as a people person, easy to talk to, reliable, enthusiastic, fun and a curious learner. They would say you don't get easily frustrated or discouraged, instead you are optimistic and always looking for solve problems.
  • You thrive in an autonomous setting where you can control your schedule, manage patient care, and truly enjoy problem-solving.

What are our patients like?

Generally aged 40 and up with high standards for their lifestyle. A fair amount of the time, our patients have already been to a chiro, pain management, or mill PT practice and had unsuccessful treatments. We have an opportunity to take on athletes and with the right fit we may expand into this population.

Most patients either use out-of-network insurance or pay out of pocket for treatment. As a result, these patients are very invested in their care. They will do what you say, they will trust in your process, and they will not cancel appointments. They are excellent students because they want to be here. NO ONE will tell you they came here because their doctor (or lawyer) said they have to do PT.

Conditions We Specialize In:

TMJ Disorder, Headaches and Neck Pain

Believe it or not, this is a very fun area to treat! The cervical spine, headaches, facial pain, and TMJ disorder all get jumbled together into one big mess sometimes. Add in some shoulder dysfunction and postural deficits and you have yourself a challenging puzzle to solve. This area generates some of our most rewarding success stories and true growth as a PT. If you have no experience, we would love to give you the tools and education to become proficient.

Spine Pain & Sciatica

It’s a shame how many people are living with lower back pain, sciatica, and other various radiculopathies which they incorrectly believe are extremity joint problems. There are countless individuals out there who have been incorrectly diagnosed or treated and are suffering needlessly. We love to see these patients and help them, the spine is a big focus of the clinic. We use all different techniques and approaches, but The McKenzie Method (MDT) is absolutely invaluable in this area, if you have McKenzie experience, great! If not, don’t worry, we’ll be happy to pay for you to learn it.

Chronic Joint Pain

Some patients had surgery and never got better… Others never had surgery but have been suffering too long, and finally hit the point where they are ready to take action. It always amazes us how easy it can be to fix ongoing chronic joint pain yet how often patients or even therapists don’t figure out how.

Our 5 Year Vision for Skyline Physical Therapy:

Our vision is for Skyline PT to be the leader in high-quality concierge physical therapy.

We want to create a facility where like-minded individuals who are serious about their health come to recover. Everything about this clinic will go above and beyond... the expertise of our PTs, quality of care delivered, the in-clinic experience, committed follow-up, community outreach, online education, resources for patients, and a trusted referral network.

We plan to build out our clinic with 3-4 therapists, each with their own caseload. Each therapist will be proficient in all areas of our practice but specialize in one specific area after 1 year. We want our entire team ‘speaking the same language’ (utilizing a similar philosophy) while at the same time complementing each other well with their unique differences. This will make for a powerhouse treatment center where we can problem-solve together.

We want our therapists to not only enjoy coming to work and to make a salary they are happy with… but we want to provide an environment that fosters explosive professional growth. If we can achieve this for you, then one of two things will happen... EITHER you will grow with the company, possibly into a leadership role, OR you may leave us for another opportunity where you are a force to be reckoned with. Both scenarios are something we would be very happy to see play out.

Ideal Candidate:

2+ years of experience as a PTA (...however, we are interviewing new grads as well).

Requirements:

  • Valid physical therapy assistant license in the state of NJ
  • Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program
  • Current CPR certification
