As a member of our FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) team, you will bring your passion, education, and experience to this critical mission and interact directly with decision-makers and government staff who are tasked with ensuring the nation's air transportation system's underlying communications infrastructure is secure and always available. As a Transition Project Manager for the FAA FENS Transition, you will partner with the Testing and Evaluation team(workgroup) which holds the ‘keys’ to Verizon’s ability to achieve In Service Decision (ISD). ISD is critical for Verizon to obtain BEFORE we can proceed with ANY site migrations. Verizon’s Development Lab is located at our Verizon facility in Richardson, TX and the FAA has four Data Centers, 1 Research and Design Center, and 2(+) Testing facilities. Per our agreement, our Testing team creates an overall test approach, test plans, and certifications, and conducts tests in our facilities first, then moves to the FAA facilities. The facilities need to be built out, the solutions need to be built, tested, and confirmed, results captured, and the FAA needs to approve our results, etc. We are looking for a Project Manager that can build out the workflows and ensure we don’t miss any of those deliverables. We need to make sure we get the right people, doing the right tasks, at the right time. We are in the process of getting equipment ordered..circuits..test teams..but we need to layout the sequencing, and review the test plans, and deliverables.

As the PM lead for our Testing and Evaluation team (T&E), you will get to see first-hand how new technologies are deployed, tested, validated, failed over, back, etc. You will work directly with our T&E team, testing leads, business partners, NOC, SOC leads, Solution Architects, and Program Office. You have responsibility for daily/weekly reporting, tracking, and reconciliation via our Project Management Information System tool, Microsoft Project, weekly status, and monthly progression reports.

You will work directly with the Transition Deputy and the Infrastructure Project Manager to ensure all the parallel workstreams are integrated and critical paths synchronized to ensure overall Project and Program success. PMs for IMS (SWIM), Security, IT, Tools, OSS/Domains, NOC/SOC, NAS, MNS, CPE Staging (all under our Infrastructure Transition team) will all collaborate with you.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager has the following key responsibilities:

  • Execute and maintain project management processes in the areas of project schedule, quality management, communications management, risk/issue management, and change management.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules and calendars with the input and assistance of transition leads

  • Facilitate team meetings, providing meeting minutes and action items where needed

  • Build strong communication channels with internal stakeholders in various departments: Sales, Professional Services, IT Operations, Development teams, Release Management, Networking

  • Track tasks assigned to the project team and prepare regular status reports

  • Responsible for tracking project changes and producing updated schedules

  • Influence continuous improvement of project management methodologies including: assessment of project delivery capabilities, gathering and reporting performance metrics, establishing corresponding targets, and measurement of on-going progress.

  • Ensure smooth communication within the project team and other cross-functional teams

  • Interface with internal/external stakeholders on a regular basis

  • Prepare and document Day 1/Day 2 support documentation and acceptance criteria

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

  • 8+ Years proven Project Management experience with proven track record and experience with deploying and delivering complex solutions.

  • Enterprise Client Experience

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office product suite, including PowerPoint, Excel & Word and Microsoft Project

  • Demonstrated experience with verbal & written communications

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • ITIL V3 Certification Desired

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Desired

  • Financial Business acumen

  • Broad Verizon product experience

  • Supplier Management

  • Proficiency in customer enablement tools

  • Ability to manage and negotiate with required internal and external organizations

  • Able to write documentation and communicate effectively with team-members.
