Supervises: Assist with supervising Science First students

Position Overview:

The Science Career Continuum is looking for two eager assistants to support the program's needs during the summer of 2023. This position assists the manager of Science Career Continuum with basic program logistics. As an assistant, you will work closely with the program manager to report the general conduct and attendance of students in the program, as well as help coordinate field trip events, and prep classroom activities. The goal of this position is to help our recent alumni transition into college and grow their professional work experience.

The Science Career Continuum is comprised of three programs, Science First, Science First II, and College First. We have two designated buses to pick up and drop off students daily and bring them to the Garden. As a program assistant, you are expected to ride the bus, take attendance, and oversee student behavior, health, and safety. When they arrive at the Garden each day, they are to walk the elementary students to class, then meet with the program manager to report on bus observations and begin with their daily assigned tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Take bus attendance and maintain attendance log.
  • Monitor student behavior on bus and report any incidents to program manager.
  • Monitor the Science First students during group and independent learning times, ensuring they are following learning guidelines and expectations.
  • Organize completed student assignments in Google Classroom and keep track of program calendar.
  • Print and prep classroom activities as needed for Science First and College First.
  • Assist students with their final projects.
  • Help with tech support for students.
  • Help coordinate maps, directions, and print tickets for field trips.
  • Assist the program manager and instructors with other activities as needed.
