JOB DESCRIPTION: PRN Radiology Technologist for Taylorville Urgent Care and Forsyth Urgent Care (Central Illinois Urgent Care) Looking for PRN coverage during the weekdays and/or weekends with flexible schedules.

JOB SUMMARY: To provide compassionate and excellent patient care by performing courteous, efficient and accurate services. A dual position to perform radiologic procedures as well as medical assistant duties. In these roles you will accompany patients and their secondary guests through the entire experience to ensure an excellent clinical experience, reduce treatment times and maximize the patient experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Radiology Technologist:

  • Ensure that the radiology room is clean and properly maintained with medical and radiology supplies.
  • Ensure equipment is in working order.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to the Department Head.
  • Assist and prepare patients for radiologic procedures.
  • Educate patients about the tests being performed.
  • Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
  • Accountable for proficient knowledge of x-ray procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards common to radiology.
  • Clean surface areas after patient use.
  • Ensure all radiographs achieve a radiographic interpretation by clarifying discrepancies.
  • Responsible for producing and transmitting digital copies of x-rays.
  • Accountable for up-to-date on annual radiation protection in-service with documentation.

Medical Assistant:

  • Ensure examination and treatment rooms are clean and properly maintained with medical supplies.
  • Room patients promptly following registration.
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  • Responsible for documenting chief complaint, medical condition, temperature, pulse, B/P 02, weight, height, pain level; last menses; allergic reactions to medications, list of current medications, social history, family history of disease, immunizations up to date, and designated pharmacy.
  • Consult provider with history. Responsible for documenting chief complaints and vitals into EMR prior to provider's assessment.
  • Perform duties as directed by the provider.
  • Prep patients for minor surgeries and assist the provider.
  • Apply orthopedic splints and wound dressings.
  • Perform all point of care tests ordered by the provider including; strep, influenza, COVID-19, Mononucleosis and RSV swabs and urinalysis testing.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Registered by the ARRT and licensed with the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety (IEMA). Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of radiologic equipment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Other requirements/information: Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with an electronic health record and phlebotomy. Knowledge of urgent care medical specialty. Knowledge of medical terminology. Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.

Licensure/Certifications: Current certification as a radiology technician with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers)

SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with providers, staff, patients and the communities.
  • Proficient knowledge of radiologic procedures and protocols.
  • Proficient knowledge of the medical practice environment and care to patients.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details in documentation in EMR and verbal communication with patients and providers.
  • Ability to work and accommodate a fast-paced work environment maintaining excellent customer service and interactions.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA and of sensitive information.

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
