Position Description
This is a Process Technician position in the printed electronics organization, specifically the Flexographic Printing process block. The printed electronics process utilizes production-scale, roll-to-roll equipment in class 1,000 and 10,000 cleanroom environments. The equipment is used for the development and additive manufacturing of patterned conductive films using two fundamental process blocks: 1) flexographic printing and 2) electroless copper plating. The scope of this position includes support of the flexographic printing process with strong collaboration with the process expert for production optimization. The right candidate will be able to ensure that the current process continues to deliver consistently high-quality printed electronics products to our customers, though facilitating work with the process expert and the manufacturing technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on process technician and expert for the flexographic printing process, serving as liaison between the process engineer and the manufacturing technicians including managing press configurations and production run assistance.
  • Work with the process engineer to develop new product and processes and execute supporting development process and product experiments.
  • Work with the process engineer to guide the installation of new hardware as required, and related training for operations and maintenance.
  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated and with-in the established process parameters though use of the Maintenance and Calibration Database
  • As an equipment/process expert, advise maintenance in break-fix troubleshooting and repair as required.
  • Work with the process engineer and mechanics to ensure that all equipment is effectively maintained through existing preventive maintenance procedures and develop new preventive maintenance practices as required.
  • Monitor process performance to identify drifts and initiate corrective action before failure.
  • Develop new and improve existing SOPs for Mastering & Printing.
  • Assist Operation and train operations on the standard work process.
  • Work directly with the Operations Manager, process engineer and printing process staff to optimize schedules and equipment utilization.

Required Skills

  • First-hand experience with roll-to-roll manufacturing; desired experience with functional printing, printed electronics, or additive manufacturing.
  • Experience with contact printing techniques, specifically flexography and gravure.
  • Experience with pre-press and on-press workflows.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Proven track record of generating standard operating procedures
  • Experience training others using standard procedures
  • Experience with reviewing process data and statistical process control principals
  • Use of all required computer systems, including Microsoft Office products, Kodak’s PV (Process Verification) Suite, Compliant Pro, etc.
  • Experience with process control systems (PLC) is desired
  • Experience working in cleanrooms is desired.

Other

  • Must be comfortable/able to work in cleanroom conditions (requires full gowning head to toe).
  • Ability to reach, bend, crawl, stoop, push and/or pull, and lift/move 40 lbs. when required.
