JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Prevocational Services Manager
STATUS: Full-time, non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Employment and Vocational Services
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides daily supervision and coordination of Community Based Prevocational staff and programming. Works closely with Manager of Supported Employment and Director of Employment and Vocational Services to maintain necessary staffing for the Employment Training Program and Transitional Employment Program. Works with Director of EVS to develop new programming opportunities for CBPV participants and transitioning students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide daily supervision and coordination of pre-vocational services
- Work with Director to implement program services that support individuals with disabilities to reach highest level of employability and independence
- Work with Director and other staff to develop and implement Challenge’s College Experience Program.
- Work with other managers in completing intake and assessment of new referrals
- Develop and implement vocational counseling, assessment, goal planning, and follow-up supports to service recipients
- Provide daily support to individuals including oversight, transportation, personal care and assistance in business operations and community activities
- Coordinate services with other human service and community agencies.
- Communicate internally within agency and externally with other service providers, employers, community agencies, families and funding sources, fostering positive professional relationships
- Work with Director and Human Resources Department to hire, train, supervise and provide staff development for program staff including coordination of external OPWDD trainings
- Work with Director to assure successful completion of documentation and statistical reporting to maximize billable service revenue.
- Maintain knowledge and follow policies and procedures of funding, licensing and regulatory agencies.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned by Director.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree preferred plus two (2) years experience with OPWDD programming or Associates Degree plus four (4) years relevant experience. Prior years of experience with population may be considered in lieu of post-secondary degree. Exceptional written and oral communication plus strong teamwork and organizational skills. Valid New York State driver’s license that meets third party insurance requirements and a reliable vehicle.
