Role Summary

The Pre-Employment Specialist is responsible for performing drug and alcohol test collections based on the selected employee’s work schedule. As a member of the drug abatement team, the individual contributor role will sign-up and complete tests of employees based on geographic location. The Pre-Employment Specialist ensures all assigned geographic pre-employment testing is completed within a designated time frame. Hours and availability needs are subject to testing schedules and can range from over 40 hours/week to less than 5 hours weekly.

Key Duties

  • Conducts applicable pre-employment testing based on role.
  • Perform both DOT and non-DOT drug testing.
  • Makes determinations, based on regulatory guidance, as to specimen validity based on physical factors and donor actions.
  • Determines when to declare a “refusal to test” based on regulatory parameters; reports occurrences to Designated Employer Representative (DER).
  • Conducts nicotine screening according to company policy.
  • Collects fingerprints as needed for crew badging, port IDs, USPS screening, etc.
  • Collects and helps applicant complete USPS paperwork.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies, CFRs (Code of Federal Regulations).
  • Enforces direct-observation specimen collections as required.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a service orientation role or related area.
  • The ability to travel within the US and to Canada and Mexico, with occasional overnight stays, is required.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including working with database programs, online information tracking.
  • Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development.
  • Demonstrated skills in the following areas: security, compliance, communication, risk management, customer service, problem solving, conflict resolution, project management.
  • Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with other teams and workgroups.
  • Ability to apply prior experiences and knowledge to solve routine to moderately complex problems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field.
  • A working knowledge of Alaska Airlines’ and Horizon Air’s Drug & Alcohol policies, 49 CFR Part 40, 14 CFR Part 121 and TSA directives regarding employee IDs, fingerprinting and CHRCs.

Salary Range

$47,400 - $66,400 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
