General Description

As the Payroll Supervisor ensure that functions are performed correctly and promptly. Assign tasks to unit personnel; anticipate, identify, and respond to day-to-day operations in a timely manner. Develop strategies to improve the services offered, manage the allocated budget, document processes, comply with local and federal regulations, including ensuring satisfactory audits. Define and implement a contingency plan for the continuity of processes, establish metrics for the unit and support other special projects.

Education

Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting, Finance or Human Resources from an accredited university or college.

Experience

Minimum four (4) years of experience in supervising or leading projects in a Payroll or Audit role; preferably in financial institutions.

Certifications / Licenses

No certifications or license needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's)

  • Knowledge in payroll cycle procedures.
  • General knowledge of tax issues, applicable withholdings and regulations that apply to the geographic areas where service is provided.
  • Assess management team with applicable regulations and policies for business decisions.
  • Ability to build strong, inclusive, and collaborative working relationships.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing, and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to use technology and digital solutions to enhance the employee experience.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, in ambiguous situations, and persevere over internal and external barriers to drive resolutions keeping in mind legal implications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) cont.

  • Project Management: Ability to work with multiple projects and tasks with minimum supervision. Capacity to achieve results according to plan ensuring the expected quality. Excellent organization capacity to define priorities, meet deadlines, and flexible to change. Knowledge on project coordination, identification of business needs, work plan, budget control, time management, resource allocation, team management and status reports. Must demonstrate leadership, logic, and reasoning skills.
  • Computer and technological skills: Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Strong communication skills: must be able to confidently make recommendations to senior business leaders for improved employee relations and business results based on data and findings. Experience engaging, influencing, and presenting to executives and senior leaders. Strong oral and written communication skills and fully bilingual (English and Spanish).
  • Facilitation skills: Polished presentation skills. Track record in facilitation and presentation skills. Able to present ideas effectively one-on-one, virtually and with a large group. Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels, in various settings and technical information to varying audiences. Communicate effectively and swiftly produce high-quality written communications that concisely analyze problems and recommend solutions; design and deliver highly engaging training sessions.
  • Demonstrated experience with HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, SuccessFactors) and employee data is strongly preferred.
  • Analyze and Interpret Data: Exercise strong analytical skills using data and anecdotes to develop persuasive narratives and recommendations; demonstrated ability to define and measure success of programs. Proven ability to consolidate and manipulate large data sets with a commitment to accuracy and details.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays if it is necessary. Flexibility to travel (US or Virgin Islands) as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, both in English and Spanish.
