General Purpose

The purpose of this role is to process payroll and payroll related functions/processes/reporting, in addition to other general Human Resources functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately process bi-weekly, multi-state, company payrolls in a timely manner including reimbursements and annual/monthly/quarterly/off-cycle bonuses
  • Maintains knowledge and ensure compliance with rules and laws which govern the payroll administration practices in various states
  • Ensures that payroll related transactions are processed in compliance with external and internal policies
  • Audits payroll information for accuracy and process applicable amendments/adjustments
  • Process, maintain, and reconcile payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments, loans, and voluntary deductions
  • Performs employment verifications and responds to unemployment claims
  • Works with payroll service provider and State agencies to reconcile tax inquiries and discrepancies
  • Review, action, and mantain state notices
  • Manages and maintains employee time off accrual balances
  • Records data concerning transfer of employees between departments
  • Verifies payroll output, checks and reports for the payroll period
  • Maintains payroll and all records confidentially
  • Handles employee onboarding
  • Inputs and maintains employee data in various HR related systems
  • Prepares tracking reports including, but not limited to: compensation, benefits participation, paid time off, critical dates, employee census, and performance reviews
  • Generates various reports and provides to Accounting for reconciliation.
  • Tracks employee critical dates to include hire date, benefits eligibility, 90-day review, Birth date, and service anniversaries
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Cross trained at the front desk to provide coverage as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent practical experience is preferred
  • 6+ years’ payroll experience
  • Experience with Paylocity a plus
  • Experience with organizations operating in a multiple states
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Federal/State legislation regarding payroll reporting and employment standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Computer Skills Necessary

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Able to navigate and operate web based tools and platforms

Physical Demands/Requirements

  • Able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
  • Occasional travel
