Associate's degree and three years of related experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 6 months and Basic Life Support Instructor Training Certificate is required within 12 months.

Position Description:

The Patient Simulator Specialist's main functions are to assist the faculty and students at the School of Nursing with Clinical Simulation Center educational activities. Candidate should have current clinical experience or simulation experience to provide clinical simulation, technical, and troubleshooting assistance.� Candidate should be comfortable speaking in front of small groups about the simulated clinical environment and equipment.� In addition to clinical or simulation knowledge, this position includes set up and breakdown of supplies and equipment, assisting in the programming of equipment, and operating the equipment to support clinical nursing education.� Flexible scheduling is necessary to accommodate early morning and evening classes.� Position is 40 hours or 32 hours per week (salary commensurate).�
  • Prepare nursing simulation rooms for simulation scenarios and skills activities including moulage, equipment set-up, and medication/supply preparation. Disassemble and store equipment after simulation scenarios or skills activities.
  • Assist with technical aspects of simulation scenario facilitation.
  • Collaborate with Director of Nursing Simulation to assure pharmacological accuracy of simulated medication set-up and distribution.
  • Assist Director of Nursing Simulation and course faculty with standardized patient sessions.
  • Collaborate with Director of Nursing Simulation, course coordinators, and faculty to ensure preparation of lab supplies and equipment based on faculty requests, course objectives, clinical nursing accuracy, and schedule.
  • Provide orientation and guidance to faculty regarding simulation/laboratory procedures, clinical nursing setting replication, location and use of materials, and the operation of equipment in both simulation lab and classrooms.
  • Assure compliance of safety and simulation lab procedures by faculty, students, and staff using the simulation laboratory.
  • Maintain lab spaces to replicate clinical nursing environment with cleanliness, fully stocked supplies, and clean linen.
  • Move hospital beds; lift and move simulation equipment, and manikins in and between simulation labs and classrooms.
  • Maintain inventory of all lab supplies, equipment, furniture, teaching models, AV equipment, and laboratory manuals. Order new supplies/equipment as necessary.
  • Conduct School of Nursing Clinical Simulation Lab tours.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Simulation and IT staff to set up classroom streaming sessions, maintain video capture and simulator equipment, and perform maintenance as needed.
  • Perform ongoing review of nursing skills totes with course faculty to determine appropriately bundled supplies. Order and distribute to students.
  • Manage simulation calendar for all classes and activities scheduled by faculty and staff.
  • Incumbent may have other instructional responsibilities consistent with educational preparation.
Target Compensation Maximum:

$26.61

Target Compensation Minimum:

$15.41

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
