Summary:
The Patient Access (PA) Analyst supports the PA department’s role in the Revenue Cycle by analyzing PA performance trends and identifying workflow improvement and educational opportunities that support the financial goals of North Oaks Health System. The PA Analyst works closely with PA management as well as the PA Trainer to identify PA orientation and ongoing education needs to ensure quality insurance verification and registration of patients.

:Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook. Extensive understanding of insurance regulations. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good analytical and organizational skills. Ability to design workflow and procedures.SPECIALIZED OR TECHNICAL EDUCATION REQUIRED:High School Diploma required; at least one year in patient access, collections, billing or other related healthcare access field. College degree can be substituted for experience. Must complete medical terminology course within first year, unless previously completed. Prefer Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA). Must be polite and able to promote positive public relations with co-workers, patients and any other persons.MANUAL OR PHYSICAL SKILL REQUIRED:Must have good visual acuity to determine quality of work. Sufficient dexterity to operate a computer keyboard rapidly and accurately. Responsibilities:
' a. The PA Analyst will assess and facilitate resolution of PA EPIC Work queue account issues, perform root cause analysis, and provides quantified and qualified trending information to the supervisor.b. Based on data analysis, the PA Analyst will submit recommendations to reduce registration errors including but not limited to, demographic, insurance, guarantor, medical necessity, and account information.c. The PA Analyst will consistently communicate with the PA Trainer and PA supervisor/managers noted PA/System errors to support the department’s overall orientation, education, and operational goals.d. The PA Analyst will communicate interdepartmentally to resolve account issues as needed and as assigned.e. The PA Analyst will work with the department trainer, departmental managers and supervisors to improve department operations.f. The PA Analyst supports the PA Trainer in the design, development and dissemination of user manuals and reference materials as well as the resource for the staff.g. The PA Analyst analyzes and recommends operational actions regarding new insurance related rules and requirements.h. The PA Analyst works with PA management team to review specific data quality audit functions that relate to the use of the Electronic Health Record.i. The PA Analyst will be responsible for dissemination of audit result to management and/or staff to improve the quality of registration process.j. The PA Analyst will participate in ongoing quality monitoring, policy review, and process improvement activities related to Patient Access training services.k. The PA Analyst will compose and process correspondence, assist in the development of reports and communications, and prepare documents for Patient Access management. Prepare Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint documents and presentations.l. The PA Analyst will support the Clinical Order Analyst.m. The PA Analyst will serve as back to Registration staff as needed to promote timely patient management.n. The PA Analyst will enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings, and workshops.o. The PA Analyst will assist on special projects as needed by the Patient Access Supervisor, Managers and /or Director.p. The PA Analyst will receive, place and transfer telephone calls using appropriate telephone etiquette; handle information requests with courtesy, accuracy and respect for confidentiality.q. The PA Analyst will demonstrate consistent willingness to maintain good working rapport with all personnel and with other departments, to help on work that needs to be done and contributing to the team effort.r. The PA Analyst will assist on special projects as needed by the management.s. The PA Analyst will perform any duties as assigned.t. The PA Analyst will communicate effectively; express ideas clearly, listen actively, and always follow appropriate channels of communication, while maintaining the hospital’s positive and caring image with all customers.u.
