Unit Mission Statement
The Office of Auxiliary Services provides a variety of products and services that support and enhance campus life for students, faculty and staff, alumni, and guests of the university. As part of Auxiliary Services, Parking and Transportation Services facilitates orderly parking, to maintain fair and consistent enforcement practices and compliance with rules, and to contribute to the general fund through sales of decals, rental of parking spaces for special events, and levying of fines. It also provides bus transportation services to handle various campus locations and special trips.

Position Summary
The Parking Enforcement Officer ensures fair, courteous, and consistent enforcement of parking rules and regulations and facilitates orderly and safe parking practices. The incumbent patrols campus regularly throughout day & evening, monitors lot status & occupancy and issues citations to correct and deter inappropriate parking behaviors. Parking Enforcement Officers may access parking records and scofflaw history in order to apply wheel-locks after consulting and receiving guidance from management.

Other responsibilities include (but not limited to):
  • Perform occasional single and multi space meter as well as pay and display kiosk, maintenance and collection on a schedule.
  • Provides assistance to motorist and cyclists as needed.
  • Provides parking lot maintenance including striping, painting, curb blocker placement, limited pothole repair.
  • Inspects parking areas and signage as directed.
  • Makes recommendations for repair and replacement.
  • May operate painting equipment.
  • Manages general maintenance of assigned state vehicle and repairs as necessary.

Required Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience.
  • General knowledge of parking policies and procedures or the ability to read, interpret and apply the parking policies and procedures.
  • General knowledge of parking and or metering equipment with the ability to use or learn to use parking meter and space monitoring equipment.
  • Ability to learn to use paint and asphalt repair equipment.
  • General working knowledge of computers and smart tablet-style mobile devices.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, to work outdoors under a variety of weather conditions while successfully performing responsibilities.
  • Ability to bend, walk, and dig holes.

Preferred Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience issuing parking or traffic citations is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting within Parking Services, as a security officer, or police officer is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing large crowds during outdoor events (Concerts, carnivals, fundraisers, or sporting events)
  • Experience directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic in parking lots and on roadways

Advertised Pay Range
$36,500 to $40,500 commensurate with experience.
