Wage Range: $19.36 to $24.14 hourly; depending on number of years of transferrable experience and internal equity

Job Summary:

The position performs administrative and certain clinical duties. Duties include collecting and organizing patient data before the patient visit by reviewing the electronic health record for specific data to ensure the productivity of that visit. This data could include recommending health screenings (as determined by accepted guidelines); obtaining records from other providers; obtaining results of diagnostic testing or specialists consultations; communication with patients regarding pending referrals to specialists and/or pre-visit lab testing that needs to be completed.

Essential Functions/Major Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Medical Assistant Services 95%

  • Chart preparation for scheduled provider visits including walk-in patients as requested by care team.
  • Determine appropriateness of scheduled appointments.
  • Print out immunization history from imMTrax.
  • Print out records from the Montana Prescription Drug Registry.
  • Extensive review of medical records.
  • Accessing outside facilities’ electronic health records for additional medical records.
  • Communicate pre-visit needs with patient.
  • Review the Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) and review for compliance.
  • Maintains patient charts, including preparing all necessary documentation for appointments and signing, dating, and verifying completed documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Preparation, delivery and follow up of outgoing referrals.
  • Outreach to patients regarding care needed and testing follow-up.
  • Recognizes and educates staff that managing patient care is a team effort that involves clinical and nonclinical staff (e.g. physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, medical assistants, educators, front desk staff, schedulers, etc) interacting with patients to achieve stated objectives.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Some experience in a medical setting
  • Any combination of experience and training which provide the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant certification and/or Administrative Assistant certification preferred.
