We are looking for a Packaging European Regions Senior Manager within the Global Packaging unit. The role will report to the R&D Vice President Global Packaging and will be based in our HQ in Parma.


Job Purpose


For the new (Masterplan) and existing (Trade Portfolio Enhancement and Design To Value) Barilla Meal Solution Russia, Wasa Northern EU-Central EU-Regions & Export Markets and the Harrys Western Europe Region products’ portfolio, the role lead the requirements’ definition and the technological/technical/graphic packaging assessment phase, ensuring the ideation and design of winning primary, secondary and tertiary packaging solutions able to match shoppers, consumers and multichannel customers needs consistently with the Global Packaging strategies and the Barilla Sustainable Packaging Guidelines. The person will also lead timely and effective development and industrialization of defined solutions.


Key Accountabilities


  • Lead the design, development and implementation process of new packaging solutions (Consumer, Trade and Handling Units), based on existing and/or available technologies, for the Region Northern-Central-Western-Eastern Europe sourced Meal Solutions (Barilla Russia) and Bakery (Wasa and Harrys) NPD Masterplan projects, starting from consumer and customers needs assessment, identifying current gaps and applying a Shopper/ Consumer/ Customer’s Design driven approach.
  • Guarantee that the new products packaging solutions developed ensure recipe’s protection all along the product’s shelf life, while matching the new Channels (i.e.: e-commerce, Food Service, Clubs and Discount) key requirements both for primary (shelf) and secondary (out of shelf) placement, enhancing packaging sustainability.
  • Ensure thru dedicated resources graphic packaging delivery versus the designed target Brand Visual Identity on the managed Brands products’ portfolio (Wasa-Harrys-Barilla Russia).
  • Coordinate TPE projects new packaging solutions design, development and implementation ensuring to match multiple markets/channels’ requirements and lead new pack materials and logistic saturation Cost Saving projects (Design To Value – VFM Value For Money and PCM Purchasing Change Management Projects) aimed at minimizing the cost of the finished products in line with product and commercial requirements and the regulations in force, thus contributing to guarantee Company’s growth and profitability.
  • Coordinate the implementation, in co-operation with Purchasing and Q&FS, of the Northern-Central-Western-Eastern Regions packaging materials new suppliers assessment and qualification, in line with internal requirements and existing procedures and ensure the qualification process of the new suppliers within the Purchasing Change Management Cost Saving Program.
  • Coordinate the resources accountable for organizing trials on packing lines with internal functions and equipment and packaging materials suppliers, organizing and supervising transport trials, managing the related project management tasks both in terms of timing and costs.
  • Coordinate, in the area of responsibility, the definition, implementation, proposal for approval and update of the Technical Specifications of the packaging materials purchased and utilized for managed projects as far as materials, performance and quality/food safety characteristics are concerned (Codifications, Technical and Graphical Specifications, Packaging Master Bills Of Materials and Palletization/Storage plans), in observance of the Packaging Corporate Strategy.
  • Coordinate industrial trials and samples / new pack mock ups preparation and supporting packaging development and industrialization activities on the main/more complex projects across Regions to guarantee the target level of the packing lines’ efficiency and the products’ expected quality.
  • Coordinate the implementation and armonization of the packaging sustainability claims for Barilla Brands

Requirements

The candidate will be educated to Master of Science degree level in Packaging, Engineering, Industrial Design, Food Technology, Chemistry or similar, and will hold 8+ years working experience in the above fields
