Main Responsibilities / Activities
Lubricates and oils machines and plant equipment. Checks hydraulic fluid levels and adds fluid. Services cutting fluids. Maintains the equipment used to perform these duties. Performs Sweeper duties when time permits. Requires a minimum of supervision. Sweeps and cleans up dirt and waste, refuse and scrap off and around machines, aisles, and stairways. Segregates scrap. Cleans toilets and washrooms, and distributes sanitary supplies. Uses brooms, brushes and other cleaning tools. Requires a minimum of supervision.

Some of the jobs the Oiler-Sweeper performs are: 1. Lubricate all plant and machining equipment. 2. Service cutting fluids, maintain concentrations, change fluids and clean sumps. 3. Check and maintain hydraulic oil levels. 4. Maintain all equipment necessary to perform the classification duties. 5. Maintain all necessary cleaning supplies and lubrication supplies. 6. Perform the duties of the Sweeper classification. 7. Operate forklift, sweeper and barrel dumper. 8. Handles scrap metal and assists in loading scrap fruck. 9. Responsible for proper handling of hazardous materials that are used, transported or transferred including the packaging of hazardous materials for disposal and the associated paperwork and manifesting procedure. Will perform these duties per directions from hazardous material coordinator. 10. May assist maintenance personnel. The above is not intended to include every duty performed and other duties may be assigned.
Basic Requirements
Must be familiar with basic lubrication practices. undefined. Must have mechanical aptitude and ability to understand the operation of lubricating devices and recognize abnormal mechanical conditions. Must be able to understand written instructions and information in lubrication manuals. Must be capable of operating forklifts and power cleaning equipment. Must be physically able to handle trash and scrap metal containers. Must have the ability and aptitude to perform the proper handling of hazardous materials that are used, transported and transferred including the disposal of hazardous materials and the associated paperwork involved.
