POSITION SUMMARY: A highly skilled technical position that is responsible for designing and implementing information systems to support the enterprise infrastructure of an organization by ensuring that all systems are working at optimal levels and supporting the use of new technologies. This infrastructure includes core network, email, storage, wireless networks, communications, servers, public cloud, and virtual environments, and security for these systems.

Example Of Duties

Essential FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as dictated by operational necessity.

• Coordinate with all areas of the organization to ensure that systems are working optimally
• Analyze business requirements to identify where they can integrate new hardware, operating systems, or connectivity solutions
• Develop and document the proposed technical design for the integration and implementation of any new software
• Create detailed plans for the integration of new systems architecture into existing infrastructure including logistical plans to conduct the physical integrations and technical direction and support.
• Analyzes existing systems to ensure they offer adequate security and are effectively meeting the needs of the organization
• Recommend alternative technologies or improvements to enhance information systems to support organizational goals
• Providing level three support to Computer Support Technicians for infrastructure issues.
• Responsible for disaster recovery and continuance of operations (COOP) for all City information systems

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

• Experience in developing network infrastructure solutions.
• Knowledge of ITIL strategy, network security, network components, active directory and security protocols.
• Solid understanding of Statements of Work and structural design principles.
• Deep knowledge of network architectures and virtualization technologies.
• A strong communicator, who is good at solving problems and thinking creatively
• Project management experience
• Experience with web technologies and building enterprise architecture roadmaps
• Experience designing, integrating and managing complex infrastructure solutions
• Knowledge of client-server networking and database management
• Ability to provide technical system solutions, determine overall design direction and provide hardware recommendations for complex technical issues
• Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
• Web server and application server administration and web applications deployment experience
• Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Able to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and staff at all levels of the organization.
• Experience supporting storage area networks (SAN) utilizing iSCSI connectivity
• Experience supporting a public cloud environment, e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, MS Office 365
• Strong working knowledge supporting a VMware vSphere virtualized datacenter (vCenter, ESXi hosts, etc.) and VDI
• Strong working knowledge supporting a Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server (2016/2019) infrastructure (DCs, DNS, DHCP, ADFS, LDAP, IIS, Server Load Balancing, PKI, etc.)
• Provide 24/7/365 network and systems operational support for the organization’s business-critical systems
• Experience supporting a VoIP UCS, including hunt groups, DIDs, voicemail, auto-attendants, call routing, conference bridges, etc.
• Strong working knowledge of layer 2 and 3 (switching and routing) networking in the datacenter and access layer, from vendors such as Cisco, Extreme, Juniper, etc.
• Experience with RF protocols for Point-to-point wireless networks, point-to-point dishes, even meters, etc.
• Experience supporting carrier data and voice circuits, i.e., Metro-E, DIA, T1, SIP, PRI
• Experience supporting Dell or HP physical servers
• Experience with supporting an enterprise-level data backup system
• Strong working knowledge supporting a Microsoft Exchange email system
• Experience working with video surveillance and access control systems
• Experience configuring and managing next-gen firewalls

Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees may be subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official job description. Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,379.20 - $99,798.40 per year
