NTD EY Foundry/Innovation – Product Engineer

The Foundry is a New York-based team of entrepreneurs, product managers, operators, and strategists who have a proven track record of turning ideas into successful new growth businesses, such as EY TaxChat and EY ConvoCoach. In April 2016, EY acquired this team out of Highnote Foundry, a venture capital and venture services firm, in order to build and launch new businesses for EY Americas Tax.

EY Americas Tax is a leader in corporate tax services, includes EY Law and EY People Advisory Services, and is aggressively pursuing innovation to define the tax function of the future for the world’s largest multi-national corporations.

The Foundry currently has a portfolio of projects in various stages of development, which address these key areas through FinTech, LegalTech and HRTech solutions.

The opportunity

The Foundry is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Product Engineer to join our team. As a Product Engineer, you will play a crucial role in bringing new and innovative products to market. You will work closely with the product development team, business partners, and designers to turn ideas into market-ready products.

Your key responsibilities

It is critical for the successful candidate to stay up to date with the latest emerging technologies and be able to test and apply them to real business problems. EY Foundry is constantly exploring new technologies and tools to stay ahead of the competition, and the Product Engineer will play a key role in this effort. The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning and be comfortable adapting to new technologies quickly.

To succeed in this role, the Product Engineer must proactive in continuously learning and developing their skills. Whether it's reading technical papers, experimenting with new technologies, attending industry conferences, or participating in training programs, the Product Engineer must be willing to invest time and effort in their own development.

Using both emergent and mature technologies you will build interactive prototypes and applications to validate the business value of new product ideas. You will learn new tools, languages, frameworks, SDKs, architectures, and the like, to solve business problems. You will need to communicate these new ideas and systems to non-technical audiences for business buy-in.

You will collaborate with engineers on technology choices and implementation approaches. You will make technical decisions that will evolve products into scalable technology assets. You will deeply understand the technology powering your products and communicate direction and choices to business stakeholders.

You will conduct ongoing experimentation and evaluate user feedback, usage of the product and key metrics, with an eye toward continuously improving the product and user experience. You also will drive ongoing market and user research to shape the longer-term product strategy and product roadmap.

Key attributes for success

  • Eager to continually learn and master new technology domains
  • Experience developing prototypes and proof of concepts using heterogenous technologies
  • Comfortable wearing the hat of an engineering manager to steer product engineering
  • Passion for creating products and experiences that resonate with users and demonstrate strong adoption
  • Willingness to experiment and iterate until you arrive at the right answer
  • Ability to learn quickly execute independently with minimal guidance

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Technical ability to prototype solutions across the web application stack
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Proven experience in product development, with a focus on product design and engineering
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and prioritize competing demands
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
