TITLE: Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Specialist - (4.5 year grant funded position)

LOCATION: Jefferson-Lewis BOCES, Watertown, New York with initial assignment amid: Belleville-Henderson Central School, Copenhagen Central Schools, LaFargeville Central Schools, and Sackets Harbor Central School

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $70,000 - annual salary. Commensurate with experience in keeping with the current negotiated agreement. STARTING DATE: July 1, 2023

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: The MTSS Specialist will be responsible for planning, organizing, and developing districtwide multi-tiered systems of support: including the development of the following domains: Family and Student Engagement; Socio-Emotional Learning and Relationships; Mental and Physical Health and Intervention Monitoring; Positive Behavioral Supports and Restorative Justice; Academic Supports: and Basic Needs. More specifically, this individual, on behalf of Jefferson-Lewis BOCES, Belleville-Henderson Central School, Copenhagen Central Schools, LaFargeville Central Schools, and Sackets Harbor Central School:

• Collaborates and consults with district Full-Service Community Schools Coordinators (Cornell Cooperative Extension), Counseling Assistants and Project Director (BOCES) and other district personnel (special education, general education, and support services) to implement MTSS components and related systems and tools.
• Builds relationships with all participants through collaborative leadership and planning articulating services related to MTSS and Systems of Care for mental health.
• Works with the director to develop and share agenda for Regional Advisories that engage collaborators and partners in meaningful and impactful ways.
• Facilitates professional development with intervention providers, teachers, staff, and administrators related to programs identified in this application (related to MTSS).
• Expands access to research-based tiered interventions and documents progress of each school using a validated instrument that generates a raw score so that progress (assuming the tool is used reliably) may be documented over time.
• Coaches and supports MTSS teams in their design and implementation of system data-based shifts related to student needs.
• Develops alternative pathways to learning, including for disconnected youth targeted - those "lost" from these schools during the pandemic, as the intent is to re-engage them.
• Identifies and implements an effective data management system for MTSS in the four P-12 schools.
• Revises intervention monitoring tools, procedures, and processes for intervention referrals as appropriate.
• This is a 12 month position

The preferred candidates for this role should possess either a master's degree in Education or NYS Teacher Certification, or School Building or School District Administrator Certification, or Special Education, or a related field such as School Social Worker, School Psychologist, School Counselor, or Mental Health Therapist. These areas align with the needs, data, and pipelines proposed. Note that having a master's degree is not a strict requirement.
