Position Summary:

The Metrology Technician is responsible for layout inspection of plastic parts and injection molds to customer specification and to follow procedures and embrace new technologies. Setup work piece on layout surface area and use the necessary equipment to measure plastics parts and molds at various angles and in different planes where dimensions having exacting interrelationships requiring a high degree of layout skill and accuracy.

Required:

· Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization

· Hands on use with CMM's, laser scanners and various inspection equipment

· Knowledge of layout techniques, machining procedures and machine capacities

· Understand all aspects of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing

· General understanding of metrology theory

· Ability to apply principles of Statistical Process Control

· PC experience

· Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude

· Organizational skills and maintain good attendance

Training (performed on-the-job):

· Continuous education and training is expected (where practicable)

· Ability to stand or sit in one place for long periods of time.

· Various repetitive movements and good manual dexterity to perform required tasks.

· Ability to lift cartons and products of varying weights up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities:

· Treat all internal and external contacts with uncompromising respect and integrity under all circumstances.

· Setup work piece on layout surface area and use the necessary equipment to measure plastics parts and molds at various angles and in different planes where dimensions having exacting interrelationships requiring a high degree of layout skill and accuracy.

· Check finished layout inspection results for accuracy.

· Work from drawings and specifications, alert to detect drawing errors.

· Perform statistical capability studies on specific jobs.

· Calibrate inspection equipment and maintain proper documentation program.

· Perform special product testing that is required.

· Implement plans and procedures for Quality Manager.

· Assure conformity with established quality assurance standards.

· Follow company safety procedures to ensure your safety as well as the safety of others.

· Attend team meetings to promote team building.

· General housekeeping to keep the work area and plant clean.

· Perform other duties as assigned.
