Families Together of Orange County is seeking an experienced Medical Director to oversee patient care within their community-focused health center. FTOC is a growing organization consisting of 160 employees and an annual budget of $30 million.

The individual we select will have a strong ability to collaborate with leadership and staff to collectively work in fulfilling our mission. This individual will have a proven ability to maintain a high level of integrity, honesty, and transparency, and a strong knack for setting and achieving department goals in alignment with the overall clinical goals and organizational strategic plan. Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to ensure patient satisfaction is a must!

About the Position:

The Medical Director, reporting to the CMO, will oversee the clinical administration of patient care at Families Together of Orange County (FTOC). The Medical Director is responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing patient care at FTOC, including providing and managing direct health care. Using progressive clinical and administrative experience, strong problem-solving ability, relationship-based leadership, and the ability to meet compliance requirements with a knack for audits/reviews, the Medical Director will ensure a high standard of clinical delivery.

Education/Credentials

  • Currently licensed to practice in the US as a Doctor, the State of California highly preferred
  • Current DEA certificate
  • Current BLS certificate
  • Board certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Currently enrolled in Medicare program, enrollment in Medi-Cal preferred

Work Location:

  • Families Together of Orange County Tustin is the flagship location – Tustin, CA 92780
  • Regular site visits and rounding at all current and future site locations including but not limited to Tustin, Garden Grove and Fountain Valley.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provides supervision, mentoring, training and development to clinical staff, primarily mid-level providers, NPs and PAs.
  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, obtaining, updating and studying medical histories and administering or ordering diagnostic tests, laboratory studies and interpreting results.
  • Reviews, establishes, and maintains patient care protocol and standards, ensuring that all Federal and State policies, regulations, and guidelines for patient care are met across FTOC programs; establishes and coordinates quality improvement, safety, and infection control programs.
  • Participates in quality management program which includes but is not limited to regular chart review of all the providers with an emphasis on the mid-level practitioners. Provide peer reviews to meet all quality requirements. Participate in PDSA initiatives
  • Meet productivity measures, ensure patient satisfaction and patient retention.
  • Recruitment of new providers and retention of medical staff.
  • Ensure a standardized charting approach and that all charting is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Documents patient care services rendered, timely and accurately in the electronic medical record.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to interact with peers and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professional and/or students in area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and ability to type.

Experience:

We are looking for an individual with 3-5+ years' experience managing 5+ clinical and administrative staff in a clinic setting. A proven track record of mentoring others and ensuring adherence to compliance requirements is a must. This position requires an individual with a strong desire to improve community health and wellness outcomes.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary Range $250,000-280,000+ yearly depending on experience
  • Open to relocation
