Job Summary

The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled health professional who works interdependently with other healthcare professionals to provide quality healthcare to the patient. The Medical Assistant is responsible for rendering safe clinical care, assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the Physician, and general patient support. The Medical Assistant provides physical support service, including helping with the medical history and documenting patients' records. The Medical Assistant plays an essential key role in the medical care environment.

You will accompany patients in data verification, appointment confirmation, and preparation before the examining room.

This is a full-time office role.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Documenting patients' medical information, including medical history and health insurance information
  • Performing data entry tasks to document patient records within facility databases and maintaining patient files
  • Verify patient information by interviewing patients recording medical history
  • Confirming purpose of visit, prepare patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room
  • Managing office telephone systems. Including answering calls and returning messages
  • Scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm a future appointment

Skills and Qualifications

  • Diploma or equivalent Associate's level education desired
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • One to two years experience
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary languages (Spanish and English) used in the workplace
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English. ( a plus Creole)
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Acute attention to detail and prioritization
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Tech-savviness - Ability to learn multiple systems and processes quickly
  • Patience - the ability to diffuse tense interactions & deal with difficult personalities
