The Rockford Electronics Development Center (EDC) Manager leads a team of technicians and manufacturing engineers that supports the Electric Power Systems (EPS) Engineering and Power & Controls Operations Electronic Test Equipment organizations. The EDC assembles, troubleshoots, tests and repairs circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and line replaceable units (LRUs) in support of Engineering development and qualification. The EDC also manufactures production test equipment for the Power & Controls Phoenix production site. Our work involves electronic hardware for aircraft electrical systems. The Rockford EDC Manager plays a critical role in the success of all active development electronics programs in Rockford.

Onsite:

  • The work associated with this position will be performed onsite.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and set priorities for a team of ~11 technicians and manufacturing engineers in support of the EPS business unit.

  • Set the sequencing of work, such as assembly and test, to optimize productivity.

  • Manage cell performance and productivity.

  • Responsible for employee development, mentoring, training, performance reviews, audits, salary & compensation planning, manpower planning and staffing

  • Assist in developing the financial and capital plans.

  • Responsible for the financial performance of the RKFD EDC

  • Liaison with customers to understand their requirements ensure their needs are met.

  • Evaluate technical issues and escalate as appropriate to Producibility, Engineering, VSL, plant sites, etc.

  • Share lessons learned with manufacturing counterparts in plant sites.

  • Track and report qual & production hours monthly to Labor Relations

  • Act as technical interface for all process improvement efforts inclusive of EH&S, Process Certification, Quality best practices and lean manufacturing efforts

  • Apply manufacturing engineering skillsets across the extended value stream to resolve constraints and improve process and product designs.

  • Leverage knowledge and technical skills to influence business decisions and results from new designs to recurring production.

  • Review new Component Engineering Global Component Database (GCD) submissions for producibility and design for manufacturing applicability to the RKFD EDC

Basic Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Ability to travel as required – up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior manufacturing experience, preferably in electronics

  • Experience leading technical professionals in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience using SAP (Operations, Quality and Material transactions)

  • Application of continuous improvement tools and CORE awareness

  • Experience partnering with out-of-stream functional groups.

  • Ability to identify, reduce and eliminate cost, quality, and schedule constraints through technical engagements.

  • Experience leading or influencing others.

  • Demonstrated experience using MS Project

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & MS PowerPoint)

  • Strong ability to multi-task

  • Position requires participation in NASA drug pool.
