Manager I - Agricultural Heritage Center - Davis County
Job description
- Oversight, upkeep and scheduling of arenas and stalls.
- Oversight of equipment maintenance.
- Using tractors and implements prepare indoor and outdoor arena footing for equine and livestock events such as but not limited to barrel racing, team roping, 4-H horseshows, Jr. Livestock shows, and livestock jackpot shows. This includes maintaining adequate moisture in the arena footing for events.
- In partnership with the Davis County 4-H Program Coordinator, 4-H Horse Council, and Jr. Livestock Council, plan and implement 4-H horse shows and Jr. Livestock show.
- Implement programs to ensure safety for all.
- Recruitment, training, scheduling, and management of part time staff.
- Development and implementation of standard work and rental processes.
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with staff, clients, visitors, etc.
- Oversee daily operations, setups, and preparation for events.
- Work within the parameters of an assigned budget and independently making budgetary decisions for the Agricultural Heritage Center.
- Work with all employees and volunteers to set up and clean up after events.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors’ Degree in a related field; OR four years of relevant work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing a barn or stable.
- Ability to prepare arena footing for equine and livestock show events.
- Experience with livestock, horses, and youth.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Able to work with different clientele dynamics.
- Five years’ experience in event management.
- Experience setting up different panels, chutes and other equipment.
- Knowledge of livestock and equine industry.
- Strong tractor skills and the ability to maintain arena footing.
- Knowledge of equestrian events, livestock shows, Extension events, etc.
- Knowledge of computer programs and other skills.
- Leadership skills including integrity, responsibility, accountability, organization, and influencer.
- Knowledge of tractors and other farm equipment.
- Knowledge of arena footing materials.
- Ability to develop a strong working relationship with the community, media and event participants.
