Our Low Observables (LO) team at Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control business is seeking an Engineer or Scientist to join our team in sunny Orlando Florida. In this exciting and cutting edge aerospace role the engineer will have the opportunity to assist with the development, maturation, and implementation of various Low Observables (LO) materials such as primers, resin systems, composites, adhesives, thin films, coatings, ceramics and glass, and additively manufactured materials.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity analyze, research, , and develop materials and their related fabrication and application processes for use in engineering of and/or application in structures, systems, and subsystems.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic, and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to provide LO Materials and Processes support to Signature Integration, Supportable LO, Manufacturing, Production Operations, Engineers, ESH, Procurement, and Sustainment organizations as required.
  • The engineer will have the opportunity to work alongside and collaborate with team of engineers and technicians to support the , development, fabrication, and/or testing of advanced materials for a range of LM MFC programs.
  • The engineer will collaborate with production operations to support LO such as evaluation, disposition, and validation of AUR anomalies.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen and have an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must be SAP clearable.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience; or no experience required with a related Master's degree.
  • Related technical skills are required.
  • Laboratory testing experience is required.
  • Experience with materials characterization and qualification is required.
  • Some knowledge of Low Observables related materials is required.
  • Travel may be required to interface with subcontractors, production facilities, and Government customers to ensure the completion of technical tasks.
Desired Skills:
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the following fields is preferred: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related technical degree.
  • Experience with the application and uses of various materials for Low Observable applications such as RAM, RAS, boots, gap fillers and non-LO Materials such as adhesives and primers is desired.
  • Experience supporting production operations with LO materials applications is desired.
  • Experience and knowledge of RCS and evaluation using fixtures and models and ATP of production vehicles is desired.
  • Previous experience in low observables (LO), survivability, or susceptibility is desired.
  • Familiarity with robotic material application processes is desired.
  • Basic knowledge in radar cross section reduction (RCSR) or radio frequency (RF) antenna / integration would be a plus.
  • An active Top Secret clearance would be a plus.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret with an investigation within 5 years

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
