Currently contracting all languages; however, we are especially seeking: Cantonese, Arabic, Laotian, Nepali, Kirundi, Kinyarwanda, Swahili, Zulu, Kinyabwisha, ASL, Italian, Russian and Spanish.

Role Summary

InterpreLink provides interpretation services with a primary focus on health care needs. Our Language Interpreters act as the liaison between health care providers and limited English proficient patients. The bulk of the interpreter’s job is to facilitate communication between the patient and the health care provider/clinician. The ability to interpret accurately without leaving out, or adding information, is critical to the success of this position. The interpreter may also be required to help patients understand documents, forms, or paperwork and have the ability to address any concerns.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Precisely and accurately interpret critical medical advice and information given by the health care provider into the patient's native language. Interpret information provided by the patient to the health care provider.
• Assure patients have adequate comprehension of information from the health care providers. Work with health care providers to provide additional understanding as necessary.
• Assist patient in interactions with clinicians including appointment scheduling, follow-ups, etc.
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality in all matters related to the patient
• Ensure a positive interaction is maintained at all times with all customers, health care providers, clinicians, patients and patient families.
• Exhibit a positive attitude with a focus on customer service at all times.
• Have thorough understanding of patient’s culture and make clinical staff aware of any issues that may be culturally sensitive.
• Must be punctual and report to appointments on time and as scheduled.

Skills and Requirements

• Complete fluency in relevant foreign language(s) including colloquial language.
• Current knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Minimum one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities outlined.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Certificate of Competency from an approved Interpreter/Translator training program.
• Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
• Ability to interact and communicate in stressful situations.
• Strong listening and concentration skills as well as the ability to think quickly.
• Ability to work outside of normal working hours as needed.
• Must be able to pass background check and health screening.

Job Types: Independent Contractor (This is not an employed position)

Pay depends on the language, experience, training and/or certifications.

Salary: $18.00 - $33.00 per hour

Experience:

• Certified Medical Interpreter: 1 year (Preferred)
• Interpreting: 1 year (Preferred)
• Qualified Medical Interpreter: 1 year (Preferred)

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
