Lafayette Instrument is a global organization headquartered in Lafayette, IN with offices near Leicester, England and Kingston, Ontario focused on Life Sciences and data acquisition systems. The Life Science Support Specialist position would be based in our Lafayette, IN office.

Position Summary

The Life Science Support Specialist is responsible for managing new and existing accounts. Performs sales and service functions for targeted Life and Neuroscience markets and programs. This includes balancing job assignments, providing support to ensure timely, safe, and quality completion of jobs, monitoring issues, and ensuring production targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met.

General and Task Management

  • Contact current and prospective customers to sell and explain equipment and services
  • Initiate contact and follow-up with customers to resolve problems, collect payment or missing information, and answer questions, correspondence
  • Prepare, process, review and monitor various documents
  • Provide initial support for systems and software (technical support)
  • Performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions
  • Provides reports, advisory support and assistance to the department supervisor as needed.
  • Attends trade shows to sell, support existing clients, network, and learn
  • Attends sales seminars, sales meetings or educational activities to stay up-to-date on the latest developments, trends, regulations in the marketplace
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned

Relationship Management

  • Act as a point of escalation for clients ensuring best in class service is constantly being delivered
  • Work positively with support functions to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities
  • Provide support and input to continuous improvement activities within the team
  • Interface with Production Scheduling to determine schedules for shift production
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with customers and other departments
  • Share ideas to improve operations by recommending, and implementing continuous process and procedure improvements to optimize results while adhering to quality standards, Company policies, and Customer requirements

Required Education/Licenses/Certification

  • Four (4) Year College Degree
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to meet company insurance requirements at all times throughout employment

Preferred Education

  • Four (4) year Degree in Electrical/Computer and/or Neuroscience or Life Science

Required Experience

  • Basic Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, policies, documents and regulations
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively establish rapport, present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public
  • Skill and ability to meet people, listen, and sell
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, pro-rata, percentages, currency conversions and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic accounting

Preferred Experience

  • Polygraph experience preferred
  • Experience with CRM platforms
  • Five (5) + years in Business-to-Business Sales
  • Experience leading small group activities to drive improvement
  • Strong computer skills
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality Standards

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
