Job Summary

The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the Life Enrichment Director in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Life Enrichment Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that an on-going program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident is maintained. The Activity Coordinator II will report directly to the Life Enrichment Director.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess 2 years of college education or a BS/BA degree in Recreational Therapy or a health care related field.
  • Certified Activity Professional or eligibility for certification is preferable.
  • 2 years of experience in an activity or recreational setting, unless a Certified Activity Professional.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the activity programs of this facility.
  • Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards, and make recommendations on changes in policies and procedures to the Life Enrichment Director and/or Administrator.
  • Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the resident and family.
  • Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments.
  • Interview resident/families as necessary and in a private setting.
  • Plans, organizes and implements large and small group activities as well as 1:1 therapy designed to meet the needs of assigned residents.
  • Responsible for individual monthly calendars for residents. Responsible for resident newsletters, birthday signs and any bulletin boards assigned.
  • Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting such to the Life Enrichment Director as required.
  • Involve the resident/family in planning activity programs when possible.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary.
  • Work with the facility's consultants as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Life Enrichment Director concerning the operations of the Life Enrichment department.
  • Interpret the department's policies and procedures to employees, residents visitors, government agencies, etc.
  • Participate in surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
  • Interview resident or family members to obtain activity information.
  • Assure that all activity progress notes charted are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident's response to the service.
  • Involve the resident/family in planning objectives and goals for the residents.
  • Arrange transportation for field trips when necessary.
  • Attend to the psychosocial needs of residents as needed. Provide comfort, support and guidance as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
