THE POSITION

In this position you will provide highly skilled legal support to fifteen attorneys in the Southwest Regional Office of Chief Counsel for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Apply today!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Legal Analyst assists with the region’s Right-To-Know Law practice. Provides general litigation support to the Region’s lawyers. Provides administrative support for the office, including file management, correspondence, library management, phone and other communications, and purchasing. Ensures that the work of the office complies with applicable legal requirements, including the Pennsylvania (PA) Rules of Evidence, PA Rules of Civil Procedure, PA Rules of Appellate Procedure, Environmental Hearing Board (EHB) Rules of Practice and Procedure, the parallel rules of federal courts and tribunals, and the PA Rules of Professional Conduct, particularly those rules requiring the confidentiality of communications.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Three years of professional experience in legal research and analysis, a
    Bachelor’s degree; or
  • A Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
Additional Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of a Class C Driver's license.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including active listening communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Advanced skills in use of the Microsoft Office suite of productivity software.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
