Lawn Care Technician Job Description:

Lawn Care Technicians maintain outdoor areas for commercial and private residences under the direction of the supervisor/owners. They will often perform a variety of physical job functions outdoors following the specifications of the contract and/or sales slip such as but not limited to the following: spring/fall cleanups, mowing lawns, trimming around plants, weed whacking, pulling weeds, and possible fertilizing/spraying (if licensed). Assistance may be needed at times with landscaping or in the garden center. As a result, he/she may find themselves occasionally digging holes, hauling and/or spreading topsoil/mulch/stone, laying pavers/rock, pruning, digging, scraping, fertilizing, weeding, watering trees/plants, loading/unloading trucks, putting stock away and hanging/un-hanging shade coverings. Lifting, pushing/pulling of 45+ pounds should be anticipated at times.

Depending on skill level, he/she may be required to use different equipment essential for the completion of the job at hand ranging from simple hand tools and small equipment likes rakes, shovels, pruners, spreaders, mowers, and string trimmers to more complicated motorized vehicles such as driving a truck and trailer. An active chemical applicator license may be required if needed for chemical spraying (successful completion of class and hours spent in class are reimbursable expenses). He/she should be knowledgeable about lawn care, detailed oriented, prompt, fast and efficient, willing to work with others as well being able to self-supervise oneself. Technicians will be expected to dress professional and to always be courteous towards customers.

Lawn Care Technicians will often provide customers with varying services each week therefore, documentation in a service logbook will be required before and after each service is rendered and prior to leaving the location. This documentation will aid in creating the customers invoice at months end. During weekly visits, he/she should report any concerns or complaints by a customer, directly to the owners.

Safe operation of equipment is a must and care should be taken while working as to not damage a client’s property. We believe that every lawn when finished, should look like a finely manicured carpet and done in a neat, clean, and professional manner each and every time.

If rain during the week has caused a delay in cutting, he/she may be required to work some OT/weekend hours to finish those contracted accounts. There are times throughout the season when lawncare is put on hold. Such occurrences are often due to drought or too much rainfall in too short of period. Until lawn mowing resumes, the Lawncare Technician should be prepared to assist his/her co-workers performing various landscaping and/or garden center duties.
