Job description
Our client's hair team is responsible for the development and implementation of Unilever’s haircare brands in the US. As a lab technician, you will be responsible for assisting in the formulation development of current and new innovations for haircare products. Position is typically (4) days per week, and offers benefits.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide claims substantiation on various haircare products
- Technical testing including wet combing, shine, frizz, etc. on human hair substrates
- Working flexibly with a variety of team members to aid in day-to-day tasks, with attention to detail in fast paced environment
- Maintaining a laboratory notebook which captures formulation details, SOP’s, and notes for the duration of each claims experiment
- Filling, labelling and shipping prototype samples for consumer and clinical testing
- Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory work area while adhering to Unilever safety protocols
- Following process instructions to formulate various haircare formulations efficiently and with good attention to detail.
- An educational background in science, chemistry, or microbiology
- Familiarity of chemical processes, surfactants/emulsions is a plus.
- Prior lab work experience
- Proficiency with laboratory skills including:
- Care lab scale batches, quality control, pH, Viscosity all following GMP guidelines. Including, but not limited to, Shampoo, Conditioner and Styling products.
- Basic laboratory equipment; hot plates, heating mantles, mixing units, etc.
- Viscosity and rheology measurements
- Skilled in Record Keeping, time management, team working, and the ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Employee must be able to occasionally lift up to 35lbs
- Employee must be able to be on their feet for a significant portion of the day
- Must be proficient in English
