REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Is directly accountable and responsible to the BSC RADaR DOL (Department of Labor) Project Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to develop and implement program strategies to recruit and support diverse, underserved populations in manufacturing, automation and healthcare pathways leading to registered apprenticeship programs.
  • Responsible to support and coordinate community support services for successful student transition into college and into the workforce.

Position Description & Details


Recruit and Support Under-served Populations – 70%

Develop and implement strategies for outreach, recruitment, and retention of diverse student populations (New Americans, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) clients, incarcerated individuals, formerly incarcerated individuals, veterans) in grant-targeted programs, coordinate the development of educational and career goals, develop student career plans, monitor progress, and provide career coaching, connect students with community and campus resources, collect and maintain data to support grant reporting requirements, track, develop, and coordinate retention efforts for new and continuing students, and design and coordinate new intervention services or initiatives that focus on successful student program completion.

Outreach to Industry and Community Organizations – 20%

In collaboration with Polytechnic Programs Outreach Director and the RADaR DOL (Department of Labor) Project Director engage with business and industry to develop, design, and implement education pathways and apprenticeship programming creation and expansion, obtain business and industry feedback on student success and aid maintaining successful employment, establish and maintain partnerships with community support organizations, eevelop and foster professional relationships with students, faculty, and staff, as well as community leaders from relevant industry and community organizations, and participate in educational and community outreach events about programs and services available.

Miscellaneous duties – 10%

Respond to inquiries by providing timely and accurate correspondence and excellent customer service, collaborate with Public Affairs and RADaR DOL Project Director on the production and distribution of public communications materials, maintain knowledge of grant policies, regulations, and procedures by providing recommendations on process efficiencies, and perform other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field or an associate degree and two years of work experience in business, education, psychology, communications, social sciences, health sciences, trades, or related field.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with customer service focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of career planning and employment search processes, tools, and resources.
  • An understanding of community support services and how to access them.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, electronic email, and calendar) and internet.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work both independently and as a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with under-served populations.
  • Experience working in a community college.
  • Experience working with grants.
