Assistant Information Systems Manager

Job Summary:

The position of assistant Information Systems Manager is established to support the I.T Manager in planning, organization and controls all activities of the MIS Department and to ensure the effective, efficient, and secure operation of all automated banking systems. Provide best of class service and support to business areas and employees and customers.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide bank employees with top quality, consistently available computer service, support training and maintenance of all computer systems used throughout the bank.
  • Responsible for procuring, installing, and maintaining all computer hardware and software and all other products and supplies necessary to keep computer systems operable and to fulfill managements requests for computer support. Act as liaison between hardware and software suppliers and bank management for informational updates and problem resolution.
  • Asist I.T Manager in Creating, maintaining, and enforcing written policies and procedures regarding all computer operations in the MIS Department and throughout the bank.
  • Compile and present for review records to determine department productivity, quality of output and cost of service.
  • Review Infrastructure and provide guidance on technological advances that align with Corporate strategic goals.
  • Develop methods to continually improve results with guidance of Business and I.T Manager.
  • Evaluate new equipment, software and processes continuously, recommend changes as appropriate, and supervise their installation.
  • Work in conjunction with Security area to maintain security of all data proprietary to the Bank and provide for the complete backup of all computer systems in case of system failure or disaster.
  • Provide support in Business Impact analysis for Business units and alignment with Technology and respective assets.
  • Manage Information Technology staff, measure and assign deliverables in support of the business.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Obtain business feedback for development and maintenance of Intranet and related access portals.
  • Approval and review of change management procedures, and enforcement of policies related to change controls.
  • Assist the I.T Manager in product development, applications, and services implementation for the financial institution.
  • Supervision of Helpdesk areas and ticketing resolution processes.
  • Support I.T Manager in preparation and presentation of Technology Committee and Leadership documents and reports to management.
  • Coordinate with third party vendors and core services to maintain appropriate performance and resolution process.
  • Prepare audit reports and documents for FDIC, Internal Audit, External Auditor and other agencies on an annual basis for E-Services and Information Technology areas.
  • Weekly review of system performance metrics and reporting, including Helpdesk and infrastructure monitoring systems.
  • Review with I.T Manager security related reports and remediation objectives presented by Corporate Security Office, FDIC and Internal Audit areas.
  • Support Network Administrator in the development and implementation of existing or new hardware and software applications.
  • Support Information Security area in developing and implementing technologies and policies to maintain a high security posture, and operational efficiency.

Ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manage support staff within the Information Technology area, measure efficiency, define annual goals and perform performance reviews. Helpdesk employees, Network Administrator and Assist Network administrator report to this individual.

Impact of Errors:

Errors are high in impact due to the complexity and relation to overall performance, regulatory and security posture of the institution. Impact on financial reporting related to SOX and other regulatory requirements are also adversely affected from errors.

  • Knowledge of the utilization, operation and care of computer and related electronic data processing equipment.
  • Knowledge of the general principles of computer systems operations, including potential uses and limitations.
  • Understands the customers’ needs and uses this knowledge to anticipate future customer needs.
  • Able to introduce improvements, allowing higher goals to be set for the area and the institution.
  • Able to manage procurement process of computers and related hardware devices.
  • Define metrics for change management and project timelines to support business goals priorities.
  • Knowledge of data and system operations and software are required.
  • Problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Good oral and written communications
  • Well organized and dependable
  • May require traveling to different branches or Bank locations.
  • Able to work flexible schedule.

Work Environment:

Employees in this job work in an office environment with a comfortable room temperature, good lighting, and quiet conditions. These employees are exposed to external elements when representing the corporation at external events and may be required to work extended hours, including holidays, should these coincide with company events.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in infrastructure and data processing design.
  • In depth and complete knowledge of all aspects of information security systems
  • Detailed knowledge of Electronic Banking Systems and Item processing.
  • Ability to analyze and align system information and business requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • BS in Computer Science and 3 years as Information Systems manager or equivalent of 7 years of experience as financial institution I.T Manager.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize.
