The Education department is accepting applications for a Temporary Part-Time Instructor to teach EDSU 703 Supervision and Curriculum.

Required Qualifications
  • MA or M.Ed. in field of educational leadership or related field. Three years supervisory or principal experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective curriculum analysis and writing.
  • Evidence of ability to teach diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful teaching demonstration.

Preferred Qualifications
  • EdD, PhD or ABD in Education or related discipline.
  • Prior college-level teaching experience.

Job Description
TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
The essential functions of the position are to work with principal and supervisory certificate seeking students according to the responsibilities listed below.
  • Prepare instruction for a three credit course related to Curriculum Writing as a supervisor.
  • Provide advice and resource recommendations to promote effective curriculum analysis and writing practices.
  • Provide written and verbal feedback on each assessment associated with the course.
  • Provide honest, tactful, and constructive praise and criticism for the Principal Candidate’s performance.


Part-time faculty members shall maintain a prorated number of office hours each week, at a minimum of twenty-five (25) minutes for each workload hour taught, at such days, times and locations as will accommodate the needs of the students.
This position is contingent upon sufficient enrollments in assigned classes.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION :
The Educational Foundations (EDFN) Department is comprised of 12 full time faculty members and 1 support staff. EDFN is the education home to secondary BSE majors. We believe strongly that teachers must both know the subjects they teach and how to teach them to students. Because of this belief, we value our partnership with liberal arts departments in providing education courses, field experience, and co-advisors for our undergraduate secondary education students. This partnership also includes content specific preparation in Social Studies, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, World Languages, Math and Technology Education. EDFN also houses two MEd programs in Leadership for Teaching and Learning (LDTL) and Assessment, Curriculum, and Teaching (ACTE). Finally, in 2015, EDFN created the first doctoral program at Millersville, in partnership with Shippensburg University. The EdD program in Educational Leadership continues to matriculate a new cohort of students each year.

    • lift student paper bundles, small boxes, scene shop equipment and materials.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift/pull/push heavier items with assistance.
  • Teach courses face-to-face and online if necessary at the higher education level using lectures, demonstrations, class discussion, using online tools and/or equipment and/or other appropriate tools appropriate modes of education delivery.
  • Able to record and calculate grades, prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, engage in the selection of appropriate textbooks and other teaching aids necessary to the delivery of instruction.
  • Use computer for email, obtain information on websites, prepare class documents, grade papers, submit final grades online and other duties related to teaching and advising students and serving the department, college, university and community.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risks.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
