Job description

Main Purpose

Oversee and manage the maintenance department and all associated maintenance activities.

Key job responsibilities

• Maintain budget for the maintenance department.
• Coordinate with Operations to schedule down time on units so that preventative maintenance can be preformed.
• Work with contractors as needed to coordinate projects.
• Maintain inventory of spare maintenance parts and spare parts program.
• Act as lead contact on all capital projects.
• Develop work list to pass on to upper management.
• Manage planned and non-planned plant outages.
• Prepare bi-weekly work load, personal request and budget updates for Director of Maintenance and Engineering.
• Order parts as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in maintenance and engineering.
• Experience managing a maintenance team in an industrial setting.
• Must be accessible at all times due to 24 hour operation of facility.
• Must have an OSHA/Hazwoper physical examination.
• Must obtain a physician certification to wear a respiratory.
• Possession of TWIC card is a plus

Experience/Skill

• Seven to ten (7 to 10) years experience in industrial maintenance.
• Experience reading and interpreting blue prints.
• Experience working with outside contractors and 3rd party vendors.
• Working knowledge of plant equipment.
• Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot complex problems and develop workable solutions.
• Able to work independently.
• Ability to work with and lead cross functional teams.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee may be frequently required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel; crouch or crawl. The employee may be occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Employee may be required to enter confined spaces or locations requiring the use of a ladder. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and may occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
