Job Summary
Industrial Engineer
At Purple, a successful Industrial Engineer will be a systems thinker, able to analyze operations and design/optimize work and material flows and systems. The position will be the primary lead responsible for designing and analyzing equipment layouts and communicating findings to peers and supervisors. He/She will become intimately familiar with all Purple manufacturing processes, using analytics and systems thinking techniques to improve processes for the benefit of the company. The Industrial Engineer will team with other departments and disciplines to get buy-in on all improvement efforts.
Will report to the Associate Process Engineer Manager. This job does not offer sponsorship.
Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and leads large scale project initiatives across multiple sites including solution design, financial analysis, stakeholder communication, and implementation
- Responsible for process and material flow optimization and specifies material handling and storage solutions accordingly
- Manages teams and/or contracts to execute strategic project initiatives within time and budget constraints
- Team with other engineering disciplines in the design and implementation of new technology, equipment, automated solutions, and strategies
- Develops and executes process improvement initiatives
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities;
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate well with personnel from multiple departments and disciplines
- Understanding of assembly line design, line balancing principles, and in-depth working knowledge of material handling equipment
- Strong understanding of data analytics
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with ERP systems, BI software, and other enterprise packages
- Background working with Warehouse Management Systems a plus
- Relies on experience and judgement to plan, prioritize, and accomplish goals
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, requiring the development and maintenance of controlled, scalable processes
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, etc..) with 2+ years’ engineering experience in a production environment. Other classical backgrounds considered based on experience
- Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles
- Experience implementing new equipment, warehousing systems, and assembly lines
- Understanding of high-volume assembly and/or distribution systems preferable
Location
- This job is based in McDonough, GA
- Travel to Grantsville, UT site required as appropriate
