Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Industrial Designer located in Milan, Italy site.
Reporting to the Design & Engineering Director, the Industrial Designer is responsible for the design of physical products and touchpoints, considering usability, ergonomics, look and feel, and manufacturing. They define product architecture and features, physical workflows and user experience, design language & aesthetics, colours & materials, and product technologies. They work closely with other design disciplines and engineering departments to shape overarching experiences that involve physical, digital, service and brand components.
As Mid-level Industrial Designer you are expected to plan, prioritise, and deliver industrial design activities in autonomy
What a typical day looks like:
  • Conceptualise and visualise product designs and physical interactions using sketching, 3D CAD and renderings, hand built pr printed physical mock-ups
  • Define product design language and aesthetic directions to make it recognisable while fitting with what user’s brand expectations
  • Explore product architectures, considering user’s perceptions, usability, ergonomics, and the human factors of the experience
  • Craft details and signature elements in the product that are meaningful for a good user experience that builds long-lasting relationships
  • Build virtual and physical prototypes to simulate the experience with the product, how it looks and feels, its interaction, and how it might be manufactured or resembled
  • Plan and conduct design research focused on product use and experience
  • Analyze and test product usability, ergonomics, and workflow
  • Develop user experience scenarios and journeys integrating physical and digital interactions
  • Explore and develop ideas and concepts with hand sketching, 3D CAD, hand-built volumetric mock-ups, and 3D prints
  • Refine concept designs into 3D parametric CAD, including definition of part break-up considering manufacturing and assembly
  • Prepare product renderings and assets
  • Explore CMF (color, materials, and finishes) with samples and renderings
  • Create product design documentation and coordinate prototype suppliers for model realisations
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
  • Senior professional industrial design experience, with highly developed design skills, demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work
  • Confident presentation and storytelling abilities and a business level ability in English
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams, with a strong team player attitude
  • Proficiency with contemporary design tools and methods, as well as passion for design trends and a good design culture
  • Experience in using with proficiency PTC CREO for 3D modelling and surfacing would give you an advantage
  • Academic, professional, or life experience from outside the design field that enriches your perspective as a designer
