Job description

Atkinson Resort & Country Club is currently seeking to hire a seasonal, full-time horticulturist/ clubhouse grounds. We are located in southern NH, minutes over the MA boarder. We are a privately owned and operated golf course and event facility with an onsite restaurant and tavern.

The horticulturist/ clubhouse grounds works under the supervision of the club president, golf course superintendent, and assistant superintendent. They are responsible for the maintenance of the flower beds, clubhouse lawns, parking lots, entrance signs, and water features.

The recommended qualifications are the following:

• Broad knowledge of annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, and other woody plants, including size, shape, time of flowing, seasonal colors, hardiness, and planting locations.
• Familiarity with common weeds, diseases, and insects
• Operation of equipment necessary to prepare/ maintain flower beds and clubhouse lawns
• Operation and programming or irrigation controllers in the landscaped areas
• Knowledge of common pesticides and fertilizers pertaining to landscape plants.

Responsibilities

• Discussion with the superintendent, determining the annuals and perennials required for the flower beds.
• Keeping the landscaped areas around the clubhouse and property clean and tidy, especially in periods of dormancy.
• Lawn maintenance, including dethatching, aerating, mowing, sodding, and fertilizing.
• Preparing the beds for perennials and planting annuals
• Hand-watering flower beds and lawns where irrigation is lacking
• Removing annuals killed by frosts
• Fall cleanup and winterizing of flower beds
• Weekly mowing, string trimming, and clipping cleanup up of all lawns.
• Bed edging, weeding, and mulching
• Pruning of trees and shrubs property wide.
• Planting, Watering, deadheading, annual planters around clubhouse grounds
• Annual cleanout of fountains and waterfall
• Setting timers and treating water of waterfall and fountain
• Keeps parking lot, grounds, and roadsides free of trash
• Repair and maintenance of hardscapes, rock walls, walkways and bed edges
• Seasonal decoration for fall and Christmas.

This is a seasonal position dependent on weather and course operation - typical start to the season is in March, with the season ending around December.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
