Viterbo University is accepting applications for a Violence Prevention and Health Education Coordinator. This is a twelve-month, full-time, grant-funded, full benefit eligible, salary position. This is a 3-year grant funded position with the possibility for renewal. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Student Wellbeing in the Student Life Division.

The Health Education and Violence Prevention Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive continuum of evidence-based primary prevention strategies and advocacy services which reduce incidence of and outcomes related to interpersonal violence. The coordinator will contribute to a healthy campus community that actively encourages and supports all students to learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally through health promotion initiatives related to healthy relationships, effective communication, bystander action, and support for survivors. The Health Education and Violence Prevention Coordinator will serve as the project coordinator for grant-related activities for the Grant to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program (Campus Program) grant under the Department of Justice Office of Violence against Women (OVW).

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary OVW grant programmatic contact, implement daily OVW grant activities, and participate in training and conferences as required by the OVW grant.
  • Convene the coordinated community response team (CCRT) and other internal and external partners to coordinate efforts for addressing gender-based violence.
  • Develop the site's technical assistance (TA) assessment, strategic plan, and needs assessment and participate in all TA events supported by OVW.
  • Oversight of day-to-day grant activities including administration of electronic grant management system, development of detailed task lists, a compilation of reports, and data collection and reporting. Submit materials and additional internal reports as required.
  • Manage and oversee program budgets. Produce quarterly and biannual reports to federal and state funding agencies, as directed.
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as OVW Technical Assistance (TA) providers, to enhance institutional prevention education and response to address domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVDVSAS).
  • Contribute to the planning, development, and implementation of overall health and wellbeing programming, education/training, and outreach efforts around community-relevant topics.
  • Coordinate and support health promotion and violence prevention programs for the campus community, including students, faculty, and staff, with a focus for underserved student groups. This includes programming with LGBTQ+ populations, students of color, international students, and students with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement new programs, workshops, and training, as aligned with OVW grant program deliverables.
  • Develop and coordinate student peer health educator and advocate program, including recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing supervision. Attend regular meetings, providing one on one supervision of students, and coordinate and serve as administrative support to the students.
  • Serve as a resource to students, faculty, and staff regarding health promotion, violence prevention, and advocacy.
  • Enhance the capacity of faculty and staff stakeholders in the community as partners to develop strategies to address the varied impacts of interpersonal violence and the health impacts of institutional/structural oppression related to health outcomes across institutional offices and academic departments.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Student Wellbeing to develop an end of year assessments on accomplishments and recommendations for the program and campus/community program stakeholders including program planning, learning outcomes, and program evaluation
  • Maintain and develop skills via participation in continuing education opportunities and membership in aligned professional organizations, such as the American College Health Association (ACHA).
  • Serve on campus and community committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred) in public health, health promotion, community health, social work, education, higher education administration or counseling, psychology, or related field.
  • Preference for Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP) Certified Advocate (CA) designation.
  • Two (2) years related experience with victim services, sexual violence prevention projects, health education, and/or related programs.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in community needs assessments, program planning, logic model development, community-based evaluation methodologies, and assessment; building, maintaining, and facilitating small group experiences and community-wide campaigns or program; peer education facilitation, training, and assessment.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. Viterbo University is unable to sponsor or take over the sponsorship of the Employment Visa.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of and/or experience working in violence prevention, response, and advocacy with college-age students and adult learners of all ages.
  • Experience working with underrepresented populations preferred, including but not limited to LGBTQ+ and individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience in college health promotion, prevention, or counseling; social work; student affairs administration; community health/mental health; leadership development and/or training and technical experience in aforementioned areas desired.
  • Experience working in higher education/student affairs preferred.
  • Experience with project management, including overseeing projects through the planning and implementation phases.
