The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is seeking an innovative and collaborative graphic designer who enjoys working in a dynamic and creative environment. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the graphic designer will play an important role in translating concepts and designs across multiple platforms, maintaining brand identity and consistency. They are responsible for producing print, digital, and social media material related to the institutional communications, branding, and promotion of the museum. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to excellence in all areas of graphic design, and a passion for the arts.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide artistic direction and coordination for MOCA's graphic design projects in both print and digital media.
  • Ensure consistency in MOCA's visual identity across various materials, such as exhibition graphics, educational materials, promotional banners, print and digital advertising, and web-based communications.
  • Design materials supporting exhibition, education, and development program promotions, such as: Print – invitations, program guides, signage, brochures, etc.; Digital – web content, website maintenance, e-blasts, social media, digital ads, newsletters, etc.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to understand and create designs to support the interpretive, and informational goals of exhibitions, publications, and other projects
  • Manage design projects from concept to completion, overseeing budgets, schedules, and vendors.
  • Maintain the museum’s website (www.mocanomi.org), regularly checking for errors or issues.
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects and adhere to production schedules for design, production, printing, and fabrication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field
  • 3-5 years of graphic design experience, preferably in a museum or cultural setting
  • Strong attention to detail, and knowledge of design trends and best practices
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management abilities
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Familiarity with WordPress
  • Experience preparing specifications, working with printers, fabricators, and other outside vendors

DESIRED:

  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Knowledge of Adobe Premiere and videography
  • Passion for the arts and an understanding of the unique needs of an art museum
  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole

This is a full-time, salaried position requiring some early morning, late evening and weekend hours as necessary, especially during periods of high volume (Miami Art Week, exhibition openings, etc.). A level 2 background check will be required upon the offer of employment.

Compensation: Salary starting at $45,000 annually, commensurate with experience and including an excellent benefits package.
