Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Functional Safety Manager in our Chandler, AZ location. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing the Garmin Automotive OEM global strategy for functional safety (ISO26262).
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
  • Management of functional safety according to ISO 26262 including planning, organization of activities and regular reporting such as creation and agreement of the safety plan, reporting/escalation, conclusion of the safety case and support preparation of release recommendations
  • Perform and moderate safety analyses such as FMEA, FTA, FMEDA and DFA
  • Execute impact analyses and reviews, tailoring of processes
  • Responsible for the creation of the technical safety concept
  • Contribute to the creation of architectural concepts in all disciplines (system, hardware, software)
  • Monitor suppliers in the context of Functional Safety such as scope agreement, DIA, review of work products in case of a distributed development
  • Support the preparation of test plans and specifications based on criteria resulting from the technical safety concept
  • Support and/or review hardware and software safety related work products in accordance with ISO 26262-5 and ISO 26262-6
  • Collaborating with international project teams
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline such as computer science, electrical or mechanical engineering AND a minimum of 10 years experience working in the semiconductor, automotive, OEM or a related industry AND a minimum of 10 years experience leading functional safety development processes in accordance with ISO 26262
  • Good knowledge of Functional Safety according to ISO 26262 or IEC61508 (>3years is preferred)
  • Experience with failure analysis methodologies, such as FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, DFA
  • Experience in systems- and requirement engineering
  • Knowledge of SOTIF, such as ISO/PAS 21448 is an advantage
  • Understanding of software and/or hardware development as well as integration and testing is an advantage
  • Working experience with V-model development and software quality management such as ASPICE is preferred
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degrees preferred
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment and using related tools
  • Knowledge of CMMI and Automotive SPICE and their role in delivering a quality product
  • Experience developing and delivering embedded system hardware and software
  • Experience with instrument cluster and driver camera system development
